Chapter 10

The next morning Nora stood next the phone trying to find a way to get the courage to call her husband. She had picked it up a dozen times already, but chickened out every time. She didn’t want to hear what he had to say. If he confirmed her worst fear, she didn’t know what she’d do, she didn’t know how she’d survive. There was a knock on the door, Nora went to answer it. Blake was on the otherside.

“You call him yet?”
“I have tried, I just can’t.”
“Give me the number.”
“It’s by the phone.”
Blake walked over to the phone and picked it up and dialed.

“Bo Buchanan’s room please.”
He handed her the phone. She felt nauseous.  She heard Bo’s voice.

“Hello? Nora is that you.”
“Yes.”
“Are you okay?”
Nora looked over at Blake who was mouthing ‘Tell him’ to her.

“No, I am not.”
She heard panic in his voice.

“What is wrong.”
She took a deep breath.

“Bo, I called last night and a woman answered.”
There was silence on the other end for a long moment.

“What did she say?”
Nora felt her tears start.

“So she really was with you?”
“Nora..I”
“No, please tell what she insinuated isn’t true.”
Again a long silence. Nora feel on her knees.

“No, Bo, no.”
“I don’t remember much. Some of the agents took me out. I don’t even remember coming back, she was in my room this morning. Red, I love you.”
“No! I”
She couldn’t speak.

“Red, please I don’t even remember it.”
Nora began to sob, Bo just kept telling her he loved her.  Blake finally took the phone from her and spoke to Bo. Nora couldn’t hear anything. She was too broken. Blake finally put the phone down and wrapped his arms around her.

“Come on Nora, lets get you in bed.”
She didn’t argue, she just let him guide her upstairs.
