Chapter 8

“Nora you need to get out, come on.”
“Hank I don’t feel like it.”
Hank put his hands on her shoulders and forced her look at him.

“Nora, I know you miss him, more than I can understand. But it has been a month and you have yet to come out with any of your friends. Come on I’ll be there and Blake, come on. I know we aren’t Bo, but I know you like both of us.”
Nora smiled at him.

“Yeah ok.”
Hank grinned.

“Great, now go upstairs and get ready.”
She sighed and headed upstairs, she really didn’t want to do this, but Hank was right. She need to go out and see her friends.

Ten minutes later she was ready and heading out with Hank.

Hank pulled into Roadies parking lot. As they walked in Hank put his arm around her and gave her and encouraging squeeze. She smiled, she had the best ex-husband in the world. They walked into the bar several people greeted them. Hank guided her to the table. She spent most of the night just sitting back and listening. It was nice to be around other people. She laughed for the first time in nearly a month. The officers did their best to outdo each other and make her laugh.

An hour later, Blake finally showed up.

“Hey where have you been?”
“Well Mr. DA some people doesn’t have little ADA cronies to do his paperwork.”

Hank laughed.

“Yeah it is good to be DA some days.”
Nora smiled and jab his ribs. Blake sat on the other side of her.

“So how is being the big guy in charge.”
Blake shook head.

“Besides you, I don’t think there is anybody in the world missing Bo more.”
She nodded.

“Have you heard from him?”
“Not in a few days. They have him going all over, it getting harder to reach each other. Next week we should be able to talk every day. He’ll be in Paris every day. I am suppose to call him tonight when I get home, he is in Denmark right now.”
“How are you doing?”
She shrugged.

“I am okay, just wishing he’d be back home already.”
“You know if you need anything you can always call me.”
“I know. Thank you, but Hank has been great. He got me here.”
“Yeah, it wasn’t easy either, practically had to drag her here.”
She shook her head.

“Ignore him.”
“Oh I plan too.”
“I need to go home anyways. Nora you staying or do you want to go home now? I sure one of the guys will take you home.”
“I’ll get you home Nora.”
“Thanks Blake”
“I’ll stay a little longer, thank you.”
Hank leaned down and kissed her on the cheek.

“Behave all of you.”

Nora waved as Hank headed out.

“So you want to share some onion rings with Mrs. Buchanan?”
“I’d love to, acting Commish.”
He raised his eyebrows and have a her sly smile.

“Acting Commish?Does that mean I get all the fringe benefits the boss got?” She laughed harder than she had all night. “Well?”
“Tell you what you can get some of Bo’s fringe benefits.”
Blake looked taken aback and confused.

“Wh..What?”
She smiled slyly.

“You can have my cooking.”
Blake laugh out loud.

“No, that is okay Nora. I am good, I think I’ll turn down any of the bosses fringe benefits.”
She smiled, it was nice to get out and have some fun.
