Chapter 34

It was warm day in late May, Nora felt like she was going to pop at any moment. She shifted in her chair, unable to find a comfortable position. She smiled as she felt Bo’s hands move up and down her back. The mayor held a meeting, specifically asking for Bo and Nora to attend. Nora knew she should pay attention, but finding impossible.

“You okay honey.”
“Yeah, just wish this guy would shut up.”

“I know, it’s almost over.”

“It better be or the baby is going to have something to say about it.”
Bo smiled then kissed her cheek.

“Commissioner would you please inform us on how you dealt with the situation last year.”
Nora leaned over.

“Haha, you got called on.”
Bo gave her a dirty look, but stood up. He started to discuss what had happened and how the station responded. Nora shifted again, then gasped as a pain shot through her. Her hand shot out grabbing Bo’s. Who stopped mid sentence and looked at her with concern.
“Commissioner is there something wrong?”
Bo put his hand up towards the mayor as he focused on Nora.

“Red?”
“I think I just had a labor pain.”
“okay, we need to go.”
“Bo, the meeting.”
“They can go on without us.”
Bo turned towards the mayor.
“Sorry Mayor, but my wife and I need to go.”

The mayor looked over at Nora who was still gripping Bo’s hand. He nodded. Bo gently helped Nora up out of her chair and guided her out of the crowded room.

“Bo, that was my first pain, we have lots of time. We didn’t need to go.”
“Red, even if it take two more days for the baby to come, we needed to get out of there for sanity purposes. You were miserable.”
She kissed his cheek.

“Thank you.”
“Now lets head to the hospital.”
“Bo, there is no need. I have a long time still.”
“Then let them tell us that.”
She shook her head, men.

Nora laid on the table as her doctor examined her.

“You very early stages Nora. I don’t think I’ll need to see you for at least another day. When they contractions start coming more consistent and faster, then it will be time.”
The doctor left, Nora started to dress.

“Told you Bo.”
Bo kissed her.

“Hey I will always error on the side of caution when it comes to my wife and child.”

“And I am sure that the boring meeting had nothing to do with it.”
Bo gave her an outrageous shocked face.

“Never. Red I take the mayor’s meeting very serious.”
“Since when? I have a memory of you and DA having a couple officers coming into more than one meeting with a fake emergency.”
“That was all Hank.”
“Sure, let’s go home. We need to call Blake.”
“Ok. Are you sure you comfortable with what was decided?”
Nora shrugged.

“I don’t know. Blake obviously doesn’t want to be responsible, so why push it. I just think our child will be hurt a great deal when we tell them.”
Bo kissed her temple.

“We’ll be there for her and help her through all the emotions and turmoil.”
“They'll be an adult by the time we tell them, it just seems so unfair to them. And what if they find out before we can tell them? Bo that would be awful.”
Bo stopped then lifted her chin up.

“Red, we can tell her when we feel it is right. I know we told Blake 18, but if something should happen and we feel as her parents it is time, then we’ll tell her. Hopefully she’ll know how much you and I love her and she’ll be able to deal with it.”

“I hope so. This baby is so lucky to have you as their daddy.”
Bo kissed her nose.

“And she’ll be lucky to have you as her mommy. Now lets go home so I can pamper my gorgeous wife before she gives birth to our gorgeous daughter.”
“Bo it could be a boy.”
“Nope, it’s a girl.”
She just smiled and followed him out of the hospital.
