Chapter 12

A month went by, Nora had yet to see Bo since the wedding. She knew neither of them could take seeing each other. She also knew Lindsay had to be due anytime now, which just caused her heart to hurt even more. At least she had plenty of work to keep her busy, she had several new clients and actually had to hire an intern to help with the paper work.

Today she walked in the office finding Shannon laughing with her intern Jonathan.

“Hey you two, having fun?”
“Yes, just laughing at the fresh young intern who is klutzy.”
“HEY! I meant to trip over the plant.”
Nora shook her head and headed inside. She had been working for a few hours when Jonathan popped his head in.

“Hey boss what you want for lunch?”
“Oh, uh Chinese please.”
“Ok, be back soon.”
Nora sighed and looked at the contract that was making her eyes hurt. Shannon lightly knocked on her door.

“Yeah.”
“Um, Nora I just got a call from an officer. Lindsay had the baby.”
Nora closed her eyes trying to fight the emotions she had been feeling.

“What did she have?”
“A boy, he is healthy.”
“Good, thank you.”
“No problem.”
Shannon closed the door, Nora put her head in her hands. She thought she had prepared herself for this, but she hadn’t. It hurt so much. She calmed herself by the time Jonathan had returned. She started to eat her food, then spit it out.

“Something wrong boss?”
“This taste awful? Where did you go?”
“That little place on 5th, I thought it was you favorite?”
“It is.” She wrinkled her nose and pushed the container away. “Guess even they can screw up, yuck.”

Nora sighed, she was hungry.

“I guess I need to go out.”

She headed to the pizza joint downtown. She got a slice and headed back to the office, she stopped walking. Bo was coming towards her.

“Hello Red.”
“Bo, congratulations.”
Bo smiled.

“Thanks, he is beautiful. Here I have a photo.”

Nora looked at the picture, she felt her lump in her throat. Bo softly spoke.

“I know, he should be ours.”
Nora closed her eyes and nodded, she handed the picture back.

“How is, everything else.”
He shrugged.

“As good as they could be.”
They stood there for a minute not saying anything. Bo took her hand and gently ran his finger her over ring. He sadly smiled, then kissed her cheek.

“It is good to see you beautiful.”
Nora nodded and then walked backed to her office. Luckily both Shannon and Jonathan were out. She collapsed on the couch and began to sob. How could she live like this? Seeing him just ripped her heart out. She took a deep breath, she knew what she had to do. She need to leave Llanview, she’d never able to live her life otherwise.
