Drunken Catharsis Chapter 9

Chapter 9
Nora followed Bo into the diner. She was so nervous. Bo took her hand and lead her to a table. They sat down. They looked at each other and smiled.
Bo was the first to talk.
“You look beautiful.”
“Thank you.”
The waitress came over and gave them their drinks and took their order.
They both began to talk. They stopped and smiled. Nora felt strange, in all the years she had known this man they had never had issue with conversation. They were both too nervous.
“Have you found anything about David and the will?”
“I wrote a petition for DNA, should know more tomorrow. Clint took the paperwork to give to the BE lawyers.”
“He did what? Why on earth would he do that? He has to know you are the best lawyer for this.”
Nora shrugged.
“I think he just wants a clean cut away from me.”
“But that house is yours! Pa gave it to you, what is he going to do if you get the house back?”
“If I get back I think I am just going to let him live there and Matthew and I will move out.”
“Red no, Pa wanted you and Matthew to live there.”
“Bo, I never felt comfortable there. Your Pa gave that house to me to give to Matthew and I plan on doing that.”
“So where do you think you’ll live?”
“Don’t know yet, I’ll probably need to start looking.”
“Would you like some help?”
She smiled.
“I’d love some.”
The food arrived. They chatted a bit, nothing heavy. Overall it had been a nice dinner. Bo walked her back to her room. They stayed outside of the room, not wanting Matthew to see them together.
“I had fun tonight Red.”
“Me too.”
“So I was thinking we could do the mayor’s ball together?”
“Bo, I don’t know if we should be making this public.”
“People will just think the DA and Commissioner are going together for professional reasons.”
“Bo no matter the circumstances when we are public together rumors fly.”
Bo got closer to her.
“At least this time the rumors would be true. It’s not like we aren’t going to this thing, we will just go together.”
She thought for moment, she was scared. Bo took her hand and kissed it. She felt her heart flutter.
“Okay, but we can’t show affection.”
Bo smiled.
“I can only promise to keep my hands to myself when others are around, but as soon as I have you alone that will be another story.”
Nora couldn’t help but smile. She went to open the door, but Bo pulled her to him kissing her passionately. Nora moaned wrapping her arms around him. They both jumped apart when the door began to open.
“Mom! Dad! Where have you been?”
“Uh we picked up dinner on the way home.”
“Oh, did you get anything for me?”
Bo lifted the bag in his hands. Matthew grinned and took the bag and ran into the room again. Nora turned to Bo.
“Come on Bo, lets go hang out with our son.”
Bo gently ran his hand down her face then went inside.
