Chapter 20

Nora lifted herself up to the other end of the tunnel. She looked around. I appeared to be another room. She reached down into the hole. Bo handed her Caden in his car seat, then the diaper bag. A second later Bo was lifting himself up.

“Where are we?”

“I don’t know.”
Bo took her hand and headed to a door. The door opened Bo smiled at her as he opened it. She nearly cried in relief. They were outside.

“Bo the Van!”
They ran to the van, it was locked. Bo grabbed a rock breaking the window. He opened the door. He opened the back door for Nora. She got in. She started to buckle the baby into the seat. She looked over at Bo who was busy trying to hotwire the van. Nora kissed the baby, she turned when she heard a door from the building open. Her heart stopped when she saw Jack come out.
“BO!”
“I almost have it.”
Second later the van started. She screamed and covered Caden with her body when Jack shot at the Van. Bo put in the van in gear and started to reverse. Jack continued to shot.

“Not at my family you asshole.”
Bo suddenly started to move forward Nora looked up. Bo was headed directly for Jack. Jack stood his ground he continued to shoot. Bo speed up. Nora saw Jack’s gun jam, he tried to jump out of the way, but he wasn’t fast enough. Bo hit him hard. Nora could hear the horrible sound of Jack’s body under the wheels. Bo continued to drive without slowing down. Nora looked back, Jack’s broken body laid lifeless on the ground, she felt nothing but relief.

“What about Ana?”
“We’ll deal with her later. How’s Caden?”
Nora smiled down at her son his eyes were looking around not even bothered.

“Fine, he doesn’t seem fazed.”
Bo reached back to her. She took his hand, he lifted it to lips kissing hand.

“Oh there is a sign. Maybe we can figure out where we are.”
Nora tried to read the sign, but it was near impossible from her seat.

“Harrisburg 200, we must still be in PA. Just wish we could find a road sign. Oh there. We're on 76, we’re only a couple hours from home. I think we should find a place to call the police. We need to get Ana.”
Nora nodded. She looked back down at Caden, she wouldn’t feel safe until Ana was caught. The way Ana looked at Caden scared her.

Nora just wanted to be home and hold Caden and Bo. Bo started to slow down. Nora looked up. He was pulling into a gas station.

“Stay here honey. I’ll see exactly where we are and call for help. Do you need anything?”
“Water and wipes for Caden.”
Bo nodded and headed inside. Caden started cooing, she smiled down at him.
“You excited little man? Your daddy is coming home, we get to be a family.”

Nora heard looked up as a car squealed to a stop in front of the van. Nora scrambled to get Caden out of his seat when she saw Ana’s head. Ana got out of the car and headed straight for the van. Nora quickly ran to the back and opened the back door just as Ana opened the front door. She jumped out, she held Caden tight.

Nora ran towards the station. She stopped when a bullet went by her foot.

“Give me the baby Nora.”
Nora didn’t turn. She just held her son close. Her head turned when she heard Bo’s voice.

“He isn’t yours Ana. You can’t have him.”
“You killed my father!”
“And you kidnapped my family, not mention everything you did to Nora and I before Caden was born.”
“I want the baby.”
“Why? You are young you have time to have your own.”
“Because that baby is my brother!”
Nora looked at Bo he looked over at her.

“What do you mean?”
“Jack is the baby’s father. He told me!”
Nora slowly turned.

“Ana, Caden is Bo’s, there is no way Jack could be his father. You father and I were together once, months before Caden was conceived.”
Ana shook her head.

“NO! My father wouldn’t lie to me.”
“Ana he just wanted you on his side to help, he lied.”

“NO! He loved me. He loved Nora, that is why I had to get you divorce filed. He need you free so you three could be a family.”

“I would never willing be with Jack. The only reason I even had sex with him was because I was desperate and scared. He took advantage of that. I love Bo. Caden is Bo’s, not Jack’s. Ana please put the gun down.”
Bo had slowly made his way to Nora. Ana was teetering.

“Ana, you were a good employee. Did you hate me do much as a boss that you’d hurt me and my family like this?”
Ana looked at him.

“NO! I just, I just wanted to make my dad proud.”
“Ana, your dad wasn’t a good guy. You don’t want to hurt us, put the gun down.”
Ana looked at Caden again.

“He isn’t my brother?”
“No. He isn’t your brother.”
Ana, put the gun down. Bo quickly went to her and took it from her.  Nora felt relief when she heard sirens. A minute later the station was surrounded and Ana was being arrested.

Bo came over to her after talking to the officers. He took her hand.

“They’ll give us a ride, I think we should go to a hotel. Then in morning go home.”
Nora sighed, she wanted to go home, but knew he was right. They were both too tired right now.
