Chapter 16

Nora was heading towards the docks, she had an appointment with a client down there. She reached the destination, she opened the doors to the warehouse.

“Mr. Greg? Hello?”
Nora didn’t hear any response back, she heard noises coming from the other end of the building so she went to check them out. When she got down there she saw several gang members, she started to moved back hoping they wouldn’t see her, suddenly a hand reached out and covered her mouth, stifling any scream that tried to come out. The person quickly turned her towards them. She relaxed when she realized it was Bo. He looked furious as he pulled her back to a room on the side. He began to whisper.

“What in God’s name are you doing here Nora?”
“A client owns this building and he asked me to come down here.”
“You came to a warehouse down in the docks all alone? You know better!”
“Bo, I had no idea it was an empty warehouse. What are doing here?”

“Doesn’t matter, you should have asked for someone to come with you, what about your boyfriend?”
“Don’t start Bo.”
“Why? Trouble in paradise?”
She scoffed.

“There wouldn’t be any problems if you’d just sign those damn papers.”
“I will not give up on us that easy.”
“You gave up on us the second you slept with another woman.”
“Damn it! You know I can’t even remember that night, and you KNOW I love you with all my heart.”
They both stilled when they heard footsteps approaching. Bo held her body to his as he tried to move them out of sight. Nora stopped breathing as the footsteps got closer, Bo’s grip on her grew tighter. Then steps began to fade, both of them relaxed.

“Does he make you happy Red?”
She looked in his eyes, they were so sad. She couldn’t lie to him.

“No, he a good guy, but he doesn’t make me happy. He just helps me forget the pain for a minute.”
“Do you love me?”
“Yes.”
“Then please lets work on this, we can go to a counselor.”
Nora didn’t say anything at first.

“What do you think it will do Bo? You still cheated.”
“I don’t know, but I don’t want to let us go, do you? Do you really want to never be together again? Red our marriage had been practically perfect until I was stupid enough to make a horrible mistake.”
She knew he was right, they should try counseling.

The door to the room flew open. Bo moved himself in front of her.

“What do we have here?” The man smiled as he realized who they were “The police commissioner and his lovely wife. Now what would you two be doing here?”

“Um I am here to see the man who owns this place, Mr. Greg. My husband decided to join me to keep me safe.”
The man laughed then pulled out a gun.

“Your husband ain’t going to keep you safe today baby.”
