Undermined Endearment Chapter 27

Chapter 27

Nora sat in Bo’s office. She was waiting for him, they had a doctors appointment in a few hours and she wanted to have lunch with him first. Unfortunately he was stuck in a meeting with the mayor.

She squirmed on the couch, her back was killing her. Her body was starting to feel uncomfortable. She got up just as the baby kicked her. She groaned.

“Come on kid, relax. Your daddy will be soon enough.”

There was a knock on Bo’s door. She called the person in as she rubbed her back. She looked up to see who it was. When Blake came in she instinctually sat down on Bo’s chair to hide her barely showing stomach. Blake stopped walking he saw her.

“Oh, Nora I didn’t realize you were here. Is Bo here?”
“He is in a meeting with the mayor, he should be back soon.”
The tension between them had been gradually gotten worse. She knew most of the issue came from the fact that she was keeping a huge secret from him. He fidgeted a bit looking at her.
“Um, how are doing?”
“I am doing well. You?”
He shrugged.
“I have been better.”
She nodded.
“I miss you.”
She closed her eyes.
“Blake don’t.”
He put his hands up.
“Why? Bo was allowed to do it when you were planning on divorcing him for cheating on you.”
“Bo and I had 8 years together, 6 of them married when that happened. Blake you know what we had was just a fling. I have apologized and told you I was wrong for being with you. I was in love with Bo, I shouldn’t have been with anyone.”
He laughed and ran his hands through his hair.

“Well Nora that didn’t stop me from having very strong feelings for you.”
“I am sorry Blake, but I didn’t feel the same way. You know that.”
“Yeah I do. That month was wonderful for me. Our dates, the movies.” He got closer to her. “Our lovemaking. I still dream about making love to you.”
She felt the sting in her heart. He was dreaming about that, she was just trying to wipe it from her memory. She felt the baby kick again, a permanent reminder. She heard the door knob turn and she felt relief as Bo walked in. He stopped and looked between Blake and Nora.

“Hey Blake, what you need?”
“I just has some paper work to go through with you.”
“Oh, can it wait? Red and I have lunch plans.”
“Sure, I’ll catch you this afternoon.”
“Actually I’ll be out of the office for the rest of the day with Nora.”
“Oh. Tomorrow then.”
“Yes, tomorrow. Red?”
Bo put his hand out to her. She took it.  Bo put his arm around her waist and guided her out. She could feel Blake’s eyes on her the entire way down the hall.

She and Bo got in the car. Bo looked at her. She sighed and closed her eyes.

“That bad?”
“Bo, he practically told me he loved me.”
“What?”
“Yeah, if he is like this now, what will happen when he knows about the baby Bo? I have a horrible feeling about this. What he tries to take the baby?”
Bo hands grabbed her shoulders and gently turned her towards him.

“He will not take the baby, okay. No judge would grant him sole custody.”
“Are sure? Bo we nearly divorced, I dated a man while we were separated, but still married.”
“True, but Nora we have been working through that. I think anybody can see that.”
“I hope so.”
Bo gave her a small peck.

“It will work out Red. Now, where do we go for lunch.”
“I hope you are right. Umm, I feel like mexican.”
“Sounds great.”
Bo put the car in gear and was about to start moving. Nora put her hand on his. He stopped moving and looked at her.

“What is Red?”
“I am starting to show, it is only a matter time before everyone knows and he’ll be able to put it together.”
“Can’t we just run away until the baby is born?”
“I’d love too, but we still have to tell him after the baby was born.”
“I know, we probably should tell Blake...next week.”

“Next week. How are we going to do this?”
“I don’t know, but as long as we work together we’ll be fine.”

She smiled, she loved this man so much.

“You’re right, now lets get food, baby is starving!”
“We can’t have that!”
