Undermined Endearment Chapter 31

Chapter 31

Her back ached and feet hurt. With the day she had been having her body hurting, was the least of her problems. She had run in with Blake in the hall in the morning, which started out weird, then ended up in a shouting match in the middle of the hallway. Most of Llanview now knew she was carrying his child. She threw her purse on the bench as she got home, then kicked off her shoes. She was in a terrible mood.  Bo came downstairs smiling, then he saw her.

“Woah Red, what happened?”
“I had a run in with Blake today.”
“WHAT! WHERE?!”
“At the courthouse. It started like it usually does, awkward and not knowing what to say. Then...Then.. Oh I am so angry I can’t even.”
Bo walked over to her talking her hands and guided her to the couch. He started to run her shoulders.

“Tell me Red.”
“Then he accused me of seducing him and and getting pregnant on purpose!”
“WHAT!”
“I was so shocked! I was so angry Then he said I did it to get back at you. Which caused even more anger from me, next thing I know where were shouting. It was ugly Bo, one of the officers finally came over to separate us. Now all of Llanview knows the truth.”

“I can’t believe that he suggest that.”
“I know.” She closed her eyes and sighed. “Bo he isn’t totally wrong.”
Bo pulled his hands away.

“What?”
Nora heard the fear and anger. She quickly turned and grabbed his hands.

“NO! I don’t mean it like that Bo. I mean...I mean I slept with him to get back at you.”
Bo stood up and walked over to the other side of the room. She felt her heart stop.

“Bo, please don’t be angry. I just..I wanted.”

“You wanted what Nora? You wanted to remind me that you carrying another man’s child is really my fault?”
“NO!”

“I am torn inside thinking my actions caused this.”
“I know, Bo please I don’t blame you.”
“I want this baby! I want you. I wished to God every night that this baby was mine, I wish I could go back and change what I did. I am sorry that I pushed you into that man’s arms. The fact that another man was allowed to have you in that way and create a life with you!  It kills me that it happened.”
“STOP! JUST STOP! PLEASE!”
Bo closed his mouth, his chest heaved as he tried to calm his anger. Nora wrapped her arms around her stomach.

She shook her head and cried as she whispered.

“i am sorry bo. I am sorry I hurt you, I am sorry this baby existence is a constant reminder of what happened.”
She stood and went to grab her coat, she needed some space.  Bo ran over grabbing her hands.

“Where are you going?”
“I need to have some space Bo.”
“No, Red. Don’t. I was just angry. I didn’t mean it. Please, I love you and the baby.”
Nora nodded.

“I know you love us, but Bo, I think you spoke the truth. You may want this baby, but it is a source of pain for you, a great deal of pain. I think we just need to take a break.”
Bo grabbed her arms turning her towards him, she could see panic.

“What, no! Please don’t, I need you. Please don’t leave me.”

She leaned in and kissed him.
“Bo, I am not leaving you! I am going out for a couple of hours. We both need to calm down, our emotions are too high.”
He visibly relaxed. He looked down.

“I understand. Will be home for dinner?”
“Yes, order some wings.”
“I will.”
Nora kissed his cheek, he nuzzled her.

“Love you.”
She smiled and walked out the door. She felt a lump in her throat as she did. She needed to just needed a few hours alone and collect her thoughts.
