Chapter 11

Nora spent the next several days in a daze. She was so scared that Bo would try to take Cody from her. She was so upset that he stoop so low to accuse her of cheating, then to lie about not knowing about Cody. Did she ever know that man?

Cody wanted to go to park again. It was the weekend so Nora agreed. She sat down and watched him. He was such a joy in her life, she loved that boy with all her heart.  Someone sat down by her, she didn’t look she was too busy watching Cody.

“He looks like me.”
Nora jerked her head.

“Yeah, he does. Sometimes I’ll look in his eyes I feel like you are here with me.”

Bo sat silent watching Cody with Nora.

“Red, please I want to know my son.”
Nora felt tears coming.

“Don’t call me that. Bo I wouldn’t keep him from you, you never showed interest.”
“Nora I swear I never go any letters. I would have been there I wouldn’t have missed 9 years! I loved you so much.”
Nora closed her eyes.

“Fine. But I need to know everything about you first. I don’t want any surprises.”
“Where have you been?”
“I was in Texas for about a year before moving to Llanview, Pa and I wanted to be near my brother and his children.”
“Are you married?”
“Yes.”
“How long?”
Bo got quiet she looked over at him.

“Almost 10 years.”
Nora laughed through her tears.

“So much for love.”
“I did love Nora, but I was heart broken and she helped me through losing you and my mother.”
“Do you have any other kids?”
“No, I want kids, but my wife seems uninterested in them.”

Nora nodded.

“Does your wife know about me?”
“Not really, she knows there was someone in Chicago, but she has no idea how important to me you were.”
“Does she know about Cody?”
“Not yet I haven’t seen her since I found out.”
Nora nodded.

“Bo, please be careful with him. He is all I got.”

Nora stood and called her son over.

“Cody do remember Bo?”
“Yeah the police man!”
Nora smiled, she sat down and got eye level with him.

“Baby do remember what I said about you daddy?”
“Of course mom! That he was really nice guy and that I look just like him!”
She nodded.

“Cody.” She took a deep breath and looked at Bo. “Bo is your father.”
Cody looked at her with those eyes, his father’s eyes, she could see the confusion. Cody looked at Bo then back at his mother. She could see the hurt. Then he looked at his father again.

“Where have you been?”

“I have been in Llanview.”
“But why didn’t come and visit me? Don’t you want me?”
Nora felt her tears coming down.

“I want you! I just didn’t know about you until a few day ago.”
“Mommy?”
“Baby, please believe me. We both love you, that is all that matters. Okay?”
Cody nodded, but he still looked very confused and hurt.

“Hey, why don’t we go for ice cream?”
Cody nodded. Nora took his hand. Bo stood up with them. She looked at him, he seem lost at what to do.

“You coming Bo?”
“Yeah.”

The three of them headed to local ice cream shop.
