Chapter 12

The three of them sat in silence eating their sundaes. None really sure what to say or do.  Bo finally spoke up.

“Cody, do you play any sports.”
“YEAH! I play baseball and soccer and basketball and swimming and I want to play football, but mom says I am too small.”
“Maybe next year baby.”
“I love football, who is your favorite team.”
“THE BEARS!”
Bo laughed.

“Of course they are. Oh Nora, want have you done to our son.”
“Raised as a proper Chicago child! He loves the cubs too.”
“OH NO! OH, my heart!”
“Well who do you root for..dad?”
Nora stopped eating she looked at Bo. She could see the tears threatening to spill.

He cleared his throat

“Umm the eagles of course! I actually have season tickets. Would you like to go to a few games?”
Cody’s eyes got really big.
“REALLY!”
“Yeah.”
“Mom can I go?”
Nora laughed.

“Of course you can baby.”
“WOW!”

“Dad?”
“Yeah Cody?”
“Do you love my mom?”
Nora swallowed, Bo stuttered a bit.

“You know baby. Why don’t you go clean up.”
“Mom”
“Now.”

Cody slouched and went to the bathroom.

“Oh wow, wasn’t expecting that one.”
“Me either. Bo what about your wife?”
“What about her?”
“BO! She is going to be part of his life now, if she isn’t into kids, what will her reaction be to a 9 year old from another relationship?”
Bo cringed.

“I don’t know. She should be home tonight I’ll talk to her. I think it would be best if I introduce both you and Cody to her at the same time.”

“That is fine. Cody starts school tomorrow. We should go.”
Cody came back.

“Cody we need to leave, say goodbye to Bo.”
Bo and Cody hesitated and hugged.

Nora took Cody’s hand and walked out. She felt her heart breaking. Will she always feel that when she saw him?
