Chapter 8

Nora started her job, she had yet to hear from Bo. She was beginning to worry. Bo didn’t contact in anyway. She try to call but the number she had, but it was disconnected. She even went to his lawyers to see if they could get a hold of him, but they wouldn’t violate any client information.  As a month went by she felt her heart break, she knew Bo wouldn’t be coming back. She wondered if he just used her, but they had such a wonderful time. She truly enjoyed his company.  She decided to bury herself into work and forget she’d ever meet Bo Buchanan.

10 years later

Nora Hanen was sitting in her new office in Llanview, PA. She had been offered this job after her win in a very high profile case in her last job in Chicago. At first she wasn’t sure if she want to move away, but it seemed like a nice town and she need some new scenery. So far she had just started to meet a few people in town. They all seemed very nice. She had met a man named Clint Buchanan, he and his wife seemed very nice. But they just reminded her of Bo and how he broke her heart.  When she first heard his name, her heart leapt, even after a decade his last name still has that effect on her.  Nora looked at the clock, it was time for lunch. Her assistant recommended the Palace.

Nora came in alone, her lunch date should be there soon. She waited.

“Mom!”
Nora smiled and opened her arms. Her son came flying into her arms.

“Cody, oh honey I’ve missed you.”
“Mom you saw me this morning!”
She laughed and ruffled his hair.
“I know but I still missed you so much.”
She kissed his head, the hostess came over, and their table was ready.

Nora sat and listen to her son tell her about his day. She loved listening to him, he reminded her of Bo when he got really excited about his day. They finished their dinner, then Nora heard a voice she hadn’t heard in a decade. She froze.

“RENEE come on, this old cowboy was stupid, please let me have one more chance.”

“Asa, I have given you two chances already. The answer is NO!”

Nora felt a little hand grab her shirt.

“Mom, what is wrong?”

She looked at her son, she was immobilized with fear. What would Asa do if he saw her and then Cody, would he put it together and take her son?

“Nora? Nora Hanen?” 

Nora put her arm around her son and turn.

“Asa.”
Asa looked down at the boy then at Nora.

“Who is this?”
“My name is Cody!”

Nora held her breath. She saw Asa’s eyes looking at Cody.

“Cody! How old are Cody?”
“9!”

Asa head snapped up and looked at Nora, he knew.She kissed Cody’s head. 
“Honey why don’t you head up to the room, I’ll be up soon.” 
Cody ran to the elevator.
“You had Bo’s son and didn’t tell him.”
She looked at Asa astonished.
“Didn’t tell him? I couldn’t find him! He promised to contact me and he never did. EVER! I wrote I called the number he gave me. I got nothing in return. So obviously he didn’t care he was a father. It was obvious I was just something he used.”
“Now wait here I know my boy, there is no way he’d turn his back on his own child. And he never uses women! Bo is careful with who he sleeps with. That boy was head over heels for you. God knows why with your mouth.”
Nora felt her anger build. 

“Well maybe you don’t know your son as well as you thought.”
She turned away from him and went to her room.
“Mom! Mom! Can we go to the park?”

“Yeah sweetie.”
Nora took Cody’s hand and headed towards the park.
