Chapter 24

Nora and the kids stayed in Bo’s office while waiting to hear anything. Luckily Bo had kept toys in his desk for Dean, so Dean was a happy camper. Leah on the other hand could probably feel her mother’s worry and tension. She was very fussy. Nora tried to get her happy, but it was futile. An officer came in.

“Mrs. Buchanan, we just got word.”
“Is Bo okay?”
“I only got some of the story, but he is alive, but he was shot and so was Mrs. Rappaport.”
Nora swallowed the tears that were starting, she didn’t want to scare Dean.

“Is he hurt bad?”
“I don’t know, but I’ve been instructed to get you and the kids to the hospital right away.”
Nora nodded. She gathered her stuff and walked over Dean.

“Dean, honey we need to go.”
Dean looked over at her and showed her the toy he was playing with.

“Mama.”
“I see sweetie, come here.”
Dean put the toy down and crawled over to her. He grabbed her leg and lifted himself up. Nora bent down and picked him up. The officer held the door as she walked out.

They reached the hospital, Nora ran in with both kids in her arms.

“Hello I am looking of Bo Buchanan.”
“Are you his wife.”
Nora felt the blood rush out of her race.

“uh, not officially.”
“Oh so you're his fiance?”
“Um, no.”
“Well then I am sorry. I can’t tell you anything.”
Nora felt the tears start.

“Please, he has been shot by his ex, these are our children. We just had this little girl two weeks ago, please I need find him.”
The nurse looked extremely sorry. Dean began to squirm so she put him down and let him stand while she held his hand.

“I can’t it is against policy.”

Nora bit her lip, then she realized something.

“Wait! I maybe still be list as his next of kin from when we were married.”
The nurse looked at the computer and typed a few things.

“What is your name?
“Nora Buchanan.”
The Nurse smiled widely.

“You are listed. He is over in that cubicle.”
Nora took a deep breath of relief.

“Thank you!”
She picked up Dean again and ran over to the cubical.

“BO!”
“RED?”
She felt relief flow her body when she heard his voice. She walked in, he was sitting up and smiling.

“DADA!”
They both laughed at Dean’s excitement. They got over to him. Bo put his arms out.

“Are you sure you can hold him.”
“I am fine honey.”
“But you were shot.”
“It is a flesh wound honey, let me have him.”
Nora gently placed Dean next to Bo. Dean giggled and threw himself on Bo. Bo groaned by laughed. Leah made her presence known at that moment with a loud wail.

“About time for her dinner.”
Nora sat next to Bo’s bed and adjusted herself and Leah. Leah soon was eating. Nora looked up at Bo who was smiling at her.

“What happened?”
“Well to say she was angry about our little trick, we started to physically fight. She tried to shot me, she barely hit me. Bo moved his shirt up where Nora could see the wound.

“Ow.”
Nora and Bo both laughed.

“Yeah buddy, ow.”
Bo kissed Dean.

“Then she lost the gun. She ran downstairs and that is when the police came. She tried to attack them.” Bo shook his head. “So they had to shoot her.”
Nora’s mouth gaped open.

“She’s not dead Red. They shot her in the leg. She’s going away for a long time.”
“Good.”
Leah had stopped eating Nora dressed then went to put the baby on her shoulder for burping.

“Here, I want to do it Red.”
Nora smiled and gently handed their daughter to him. Bo started to pat her back.

“Bebe.”
Nora smiled and grabbed Dean and tickled him. He squirmed and laughed.

“You know little man, you are going to have to start calling her Leah one of these days.”
She stopped tickling him his breathing was heavy as he calmed down from the laughing. He leaned back on her.

“Mama.”
“Yeah, I am you Mama aren’t I.” She kissed the top of his head. “And I am the only Mama you’ll know, you’ll never have to know about the one who does deserve you. She doesn’t know what she’s missing not loving you.”
Dean sighed, Nora noticed he feel asleep.

“Bo we have one more issue.”
“What is it honey?”
“We almost didn’t get in here to see you.”
Bo looked alarmed.

“Why?”
“Because you and are not technically married.”
Just then there was a knock on the door and it opened the doctor walked in.

“Oh, I see you have some visitors.”

“Yeah, this is my daughter Leah, and that little guy is my son Dean. And that my wi-- their mother Nora.”
Nora half smiled and shook the doctor's hand.

For the next several minutes the doctor talked to them and release Bo. With the hour they were heading home.
