Falling

This takes place after Bo finds out Nora slept with Sam. He has left Llanview, but he and Nora are still married.

Chapter 1

Bo sat in bar in the middle of nowhere Texas his heart breaking.  In the past month his life went from a dream to a nightmare. He lost his wife Nora. He still can’t believe she cheated on him, he loved so her completely and so purely the shock of the news tore him apart. His heart didn’t break; it was crush. What was left of his crushed heart turned to dust when realized the child she carried wasn’t his. He tried to live his life in Llanview but every time he saw her the pain he felt when he first found out came in full force. He felt angry and he didn’t want to take it out her and her unborn child. So he left, letting nobody but his father and brother know his location.

He had been there for a month, his heart was still crushed, but at least she wasn’t here as a constant reminder.

Today he got a call from his father, Nora had lost the baby. Bo sobbed on the phone, Asa begged him to come home, for himself and for Nora. He wanted too, but the pain was too raw.  He knew Sam would be there for Nora, and he didn’t have a right to be there. Afterall he wasn’t the father, even though in his heart the baby was his. He couldn’t return, not ever. So he found a bar and sat there for hours nursing one beer. Trying to keep himself together. He would have to learn to be without Nora and his heart.

Chapter 2

Bo life in Texas was just motions. He’d get up and work a bit, eat, work, then sleep.  He wasn’t really living his life.  He was still very numb, he thought of Nora and the baby all the time. He couldn’t get past what he lost. He missed Nora so much, she was the love of his life and she was his best friend.  He’d talk to Asa and Clint here and there. Every time he did they ask him to return. He couldn’t there was too much pain in that town.

One morning he began work on the ranch, his heart heavier than normal. He was out in the field helping with the horses he looked out and saw his ranch foreman running towards him.

“Javier?”
“Bo you have to get back to the house, Asa called said there was an emergency.”
Bo began towards the house.

“Did he say what it was?”
“Something about your wife.” Bo heart fell into his stomach, Nora had already lost the baby what else could it be. He ran faster.

He reached the house and grabbed the phone.

“Pa, what is wrong what is wrong with Nora?” He could her the tears in his father’s voice.

“Boy you need to come home NOW, Nora is in the hospital..Bo she tried to kill herself.” Bo dropped the phone. He fell to his knees, the air had rushed out of his lungs. He could here his father voice screaming on the phone. After a minute he picked the phone backup.

“BO! BO!”
“I am here Pa.”
“I am sending the jet down there, you will get on it and get your butt here.” Bo breathed a few times.

“Boy did you hear me?”
“Yeah Pa, I’ll be in airport in an hour.”

Bo hung up the phone. He sat on the floor trying to process what he had just been told. His brain couldn’t, Nora she was the strong one, the fighter, how could it get like this. He stood and went to pack, he was needed home, his wife needed him.

Chapter 3

Bo walked off the plane and into the airport. He saw Asa waiting for him. His father looked like he aged significantly since he last saw him. He could tell his eyes had been red from crying. Bo went up to Asa and hugged his father for the first time in years. Both men began to cry. They pulled apart and walked to the car.

Once in the car Bo looked at his father.

“Pa what happened?” Asa looked at Bo his eyes weary and red.

“Bo things have been bad since you left. Nora” Asa sighed “Nora was able to keep going because of the baby, then when she lost the baby” Asa paused for moment try to gain composure “Bo she wasn’t the same, she lost all hope, she began to drink, allot. We all tried to talk to her, but she didn’t want any of our help. Stubborn woman.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I almost did, but you seemed lost on your own, the best I could do was ask you to come home.”
“What happened today?” Asa looked out the window.

“Renee found her in your house, she had drank two bottles of Jack. She left a note Bo, it was on purpose.”
Bo felt his heart squeeze, he should have been here.

The limo stopped. Bo felt pain and anxiety as they walked into the hospital. He got to the waiting area he saw most of his family sitting and waiting on news. They all looked at him and greeted him, but none were happy all were broken.

Larry walked up to him and guided him to the backroom.

“Larry?”
“She is under watch, we pumped her stomach. She is awake, but is refusing to talk.” Bo nodded.

“Is okay if I see her?”
“Be Careful Bo, she is very fragile.”

Bo walked towards the door and opened it. Nora never looked up. She was just staring at her hands. Bo walked over next her bed.
“Red?”

Nora’s head shot up. She looked scared and confused.

“Red, its Bo, honey?”

Nora eyes teared up and she looked back down at her hands. Bo wasn’t sure what he should do. He slowly reached out and stroked her hair. She flinched. Bo put his hands by his side. He took the chair next her bed and pulled it up. They sat there in silence for nearly 15 minutes. Nora finally spoke.

“What are doing here Bo?”

Her tone was flat with no emotions, it was painful.

“I am here for you Red.”

She laughed.

“Why? You left you left and never looked back Bo.”

Both were quiet for a while.  

“I lost the baby.”

Nora won’t look at him, she just looked at her hands.
“I know.” He look down “I am so sorry honey.”
“Why? It wasn’t like it was your baby, you only cared for me and baby when you thought the baby was yours.”

Bo head snapped up.

“No, Nora I loved you with all my heart, I still do, and the baby. God Red I loved that baby so much. I was torn when I heard the news.”

He could see her trying not to cry.

“Then where were you during the funeral?”

Bo felt his own tears forming.

“Because I had no place, Sam was the father not me.”

Nora looked up finally, her face filled with anger.

“No place? Bo you are my husband, I needed you so much.”
“Sam was here.”
“Sam? I didn’t want Sam. I wanted you.”

Bo was silent.
“I think you need to leave Bo.”

Bo nodded. He kissed her forehead as he left.

Bo walked out of the room. He leaned on the wall. He placed his head in hands and slide down the wall. He cried, he truly cried for the first time since he first found out about Sam.

Chapter 4

Bo left the hospital and went to Asa’s. He was so lost, he didn’t think anything could have caused more pain than losing Nora to another man. But he was so wrong. Seeing his beautiful strong independent wife in the hospital so lost, hurt, and confused; hurt so much more. He kept hearing her “I didn’t want Sam. I wanted you.” He thought back, back to when he first found out about Sam being the baby’s father. She told him the same thing then over and over. He just didn’t listen. His stupid pride, it always has to come first.  It cost him her, it cost him his baby.

Bo heard Asa and Renee coming in the house. Both looked horrible. Renee walked to him and held him.

“Darling I am so happy you are home, I just wish it could have been for something less horrible.” Bo nodded. Asa came over.

“What did Nora say?”

Bo sighed.

“Not a whole lot. She is mad, at me. I should have.” he took a big breath “I should have been here for the funeral. She’s fragile, she just wanted me there that is all she wanted. I couldn’t do it, I was in so much pain, I couldn’t think beyond that. But I should have known what this would do to her!” He cried. “I lost my son and look what I did to me. I should have been here!” He felt himself getting angry at himself.

Asa walked over and put his hands on Bo.
“Son you should have been here. But there is no way any of us would have know it she would have fallen so badly. None of us.”

“He is right darlin. Nora needs our strength, dwelling on what we should have done will not help.”

Bo nodded trying to control his tears, he still felt angry at himself. But they were right they need to be strong for Nora. Bo hesitated.

“Where is Sam?” Asa growled.

“That snake, he left town after Nora lost the baby when he realized he a nothing to hold her with, that bitch ex-wife slithered out not long after.”

Chapter 5

Nora had to stay for observation for nearly a week. Bo visited her every day. Most days she sit there in silence. Others she be filled with rage, sometimes directed towards him, sometimes not. But every time he left he tell he loved her.  

Larry talked to him, they had an issue. The hospital would not release Nora unless she had supervision.  Bo volunteered. Larry wasn’t sure it was the best idea.

“She has a lot of anger Bo, much of it towards you.”

“I know, but we are still technically married. We can stay at Asa’s where we will have lots of people to help.”

“Okay, but if this becomes to much of a problem we have to find another solution.” Bo nodded. He and Larry headed towards her room. They walked in, Nora ignored them. Larry walked next to her.

“Nora we are going to release you, but you have to be with someone. Bo has volunteered. He’s going to take you Asa’s mansion.  I want to see you every week until further notice.  I have given Bo you counselor’s information.” Nora nodded in understanding but said nothing. Larry gave Bo a sympathetic pat as he walked out of the room.  Bo shuffled his feet a bit. He was about to speak when the door opened. It was the nurse. He left the room to allow Nora to dress in privacy. The nurse opened the door and wheeled Nora out. He walked with them in total silence. They got outside, there was a limo waiting for them. Bo felt stupid he didn’t know what he should do. She stood and got in the car, he followed her. Nora remained silent the rest of the way to Asa’s.  

The mansion door open. Renee was there waiting. She opened her arms to Nora, Nora fell into them hugging Renee tightly.  Bo watched wishing he could offer that comfort.  Renee kissed Nora hair.

“Come on darlin we have room made up for you.” Nora nodded and followed her. Bo watched them go upstairs.

“Hey boy, Nora here?”
“Yeah, Renee is showing her to the room.”

“Good, how you doing?”

Bo shrugged.

“As good as man can when he’s lost a son, a wife, a baby, then has a wife try to kill herself because he was too stupid to see what in front of him, can be.”
“Bo, don’t do that.”
“Pa, I just don’t get how this got so messy. I loved Nora and I know she loved me. How did we get so screwed up? How did a man come into our marriage like that? How did I not realize what losing the baby would do to a woman I know better than I know myself?”

“Bo you were hurting too, you had a legitimate reason to be angry with you wife.  What matters now is that you are here for her. She has an uphill battle.” Bo heard footsteps coming and looked over. Renee come in the room.
“Well?”
“I don’t know, she seems okay with room. I got a thanks from her.” Bo rubbed his head.

“I am going to go see her”

Chapter 6

Bo knocked on the door lightly. He slowly opened the door. His heart shattered. Nora was standing holding the bear he had bought for the baby. She was staring outside the window.

“Red?”

Nora turned and looked at him, her grip tightened on the bear. She turned back to the window. He walked in and went behind her. He put his hands on her shoulders and kissed the back of her head. He could feel her fighting the tears. He pulled her body to his and kissed her hair again.

“I love you Red.”

Nora began to cry. Bo held her tight and rocked her. Her body buckled. Bo held her up. He walked over to the bed. He sat them down and held her to him as her body shook. Her cries started to subside. Her body relaxed as she fell asleep. Bo held him for a bit longer. He gently laid her on the bed tucking her in. He looked at her.  Even after all the crying she was the most beautiful things he had laid his eyes on. He moved her hair out of her face. He kissed her and got off the bed. He went downstairs.

Bo held his emotions as he headed towards the main floor. Holding Nora and having her fall apart in his arms affected him deeply. He hit the bottom stairs when the doorbell rang. He answered it.

“Where the hell have you been Buchanan?”

Bo looked up and saw a very angry Hank Gannon.
“Nice to see you to Hank.”
“Really? You left town in such a hurry leaving everyone who cared about you in the dust I didn’t think you gave a damn.”

“I am sorry Hank, I just was in a bad place.”
“I could have helped you Bo, I know what Nora did to you was awful, but I would have helped you.”

Bo shook his head and sat on the stairs.

“I really screwed up, I let down everybody, especially Nora. I should have ran home when I heard about the baby, but I was too angry and hurt. Now look where we are.”

Bo heard Hank sigh. He put a hand on Bo’s should.

“I’ve missed you buddy, but none of us realized how bad of shape Nora was in. Don’t shoulder all this blame. How is she?”

Bo felt tears coming.

“She’s bad. She doesn’t talk and when she does it filled with rage. I just put her to bed, she cried in my arms for about an hour until she just fell asleep. I don’t know, I feel useless.”

“You aren’t; you both have a lot to deal with and work through. Bo do you still love her?”
“More than anything, I feel my heart break every time I see her. Hank I want to be here for her, I want her better, but I still feel such pain from what happened with Sam.”
“And the baby?”
“The baby, that baby wasn’t mine, but God Hank, in my heart I loved that baby so much. It crushed me when Pa called with the news.” Bo felt a sob escape “All wanted to do was come home and hold her, but I couldn’t Sam was the father not me.”

Hank sat next to him with a hand on Bo’s shoulder.

“Bo? Have you talked to anyone?” Bo laughed.

“No”

“Maybe you should talk to a counselor, you and Nora both have a lot pain to work through.”

Bo nodded.

“Where do I start with Nora?”

“By telling her the same thing you just told me.”

Bo sighed. Hank squeezed his shoulder and stood.

“Take care of our girl Buchanan or you’ll be answering to me.”

Bo laughed and shook Hanks hand. Hank left, Bo sat alone.

Chapter 7

Bo sat at the dinner table with Asa, Renee, and Clint. They all were solemn, Bo had hoped food would have brought Nora down, but she has been a no show. Bo was lost in his thoughts he didn’t really hear the conversation that was going on.  Something caught his attention. He looked up. Nora walked into the dining room. Everyone looked at her. Asa smiled.

“About time you got down her girlie, food getting cold”

Nora slowly walked over to the empty chair next to Bo. He handed her some food she took it and put it on her plate. She quietly ate while everyone else talked. Bo watched her the whole time. She finished as sat listening to the Buchanans taking business. Once everyone was finished she left, Bo followed her. She got to her room. Bo saw her turn towards him. She nodded. He went in her room.

Nora went to her draw and opened it. She pulled something small out. She turned towards him and hands him the small trinket. He looks at her.

Nora whispered.
“It’s a lock of the baby’s hair”

Bo felt tears beginning.
“Did you name the baby?”

Nora nodded.

“Beaufort Jr.”

Bo head shot up.

“Nora?”

“I don’t care if he wasn’t your DNA Bo, he was your baby.”

Bo grabbed and held her tightly.

“Nora love the baby, I was devastated when Pa told me. I wish I had come, oh God I wish I been here with you. I am not going to lie, it still feel torn inside about you and Sam, but honey I wish we had our baby.”

Nora was sobbing. He lifted his head and held her face.

“I love you Red.”
“I love you Bo, please just hold me.”

He did just that, finally feeling a bit of the pain ease. They had a long road, but they had started to heal.

Chapter 8

Both Bo and Nora had started counseling. It was a slow process. Nora still had yet to bring up her suicide attempt to him and he wasn’t going to force it.  Nora was slowly came out of her shell. She eat every meal with the family even join the conversation. Bo found the pain of Nora and Sam’s one night stand started to fade. The more time he spent with Nora and the more time they talked, he realized he could move past it, that Nora was more important than his pride being hurt.

Bo was in the living room reading the paper, Nora walked in the room.

“Hey Red. What you doing?”
“Bo I want to go out.”

He sat up, this was the first time Nora wanted to leave the house since she got out of the hospital.

“Well I am here to serve, where does madam want to go?”

“I want hot dogs, then ice cream, the movie!”

Bo laughed, she almost sounded like the Nora he knew and loved.

“I think I can arrange that.”

He stood and took her arm and headed out.

The night was something both needed. They both relaxed and enjoyed the evening, he even got Nora to laugh a few times, he had missed her laugh. He pulled back up the house. He went to open the car door when he felt Nora hand on his arm. He looked over, she had a very serious look on her face.

“Red? What is it?”
“Bo, I lost myself when I lost the baby. He was what was keeping me afloat when you left. Bo I know I have no one to blame but myself, I was so stupid sleeping with Sam. I was out my mind when I did it, I barely remember that night, and what I do remember is crying while I was with Sam. Bo, I love you and only you.”
“Red I know, I am accepting this, I really am.”
“I know, Bo when I lost the baby, I had no anchor to hang onto. I lost myself. I drank, I drank so much.” Nora’s eyes shone with tears. “Bo I felt no hope, I lost the love of my life and lost my baby, I just felt empty, so empty” Bo reached out to her and put her in his arms. “I wrote a note and drank, Bo I tried to kill myself” She started to sob. “I am so sorry, I am so sorry”.

Bo held her tight and kissed her head.
“Nora I love you, I am so sorry you felt so alone, I am sorry about that.”

She wrapped her arms around his neck and held on to him. Soon her sobs subsided. Bo rubbed her back as she slowly relaxed. He kissed her hair.

“Red we should go in before we fall asleep out here.”

She lifted her head and nodded. They got out the car and made their way inside. They got to Nora’s door. She turned and kissed him.

“Thank you Bo.”
“Anytime Red.”

She turned and went to her room. Bo heart felt a tug, he wanted to go in there with her, but he knew they were not ready.

Chapter 9

As the next month went by Bo felt his and Nora connection mend. They started to go on dates. It was almost like when they first got together. Nora spunk returned, both Bo and Asa were targets of hers. Both men loved it. Bo talked to Larry about if he thought she was strong enough to move out of Asa’s house. Larry didn’t see it being an issue.

Bo waited until after dinner when he and Nora were alone in her room. They had recently been spending the nights together. They hadn’t made love, they’d kiss and snuggle and sleep, but that was it. He was laying in the bed while Nora got around for bed. He loved watching her get around, it was a small thing that he truly missed during their time apart. “Yeah?”
“How would you feel if you and moved back into our house?”

Nora lifted her head and looked at him.
“Bo, what brought this on?”

“I have been thinking, things are going well, but we need to get to our lives again. I think moving back home would be a good start.”

She sat up a bit more, obviously in deep thought.

“Bo, I think it is time, let’s move home.” Bo smiled and kissed her. They snuggled together and fell asleep.

Chapter 10 (Mature)

The next morning Bo and Nora told Asa their plans. He understood and offered to help in anyway.  Bo had arranged for the move. He and Nora left the mansion together, they pulled up to their house. Bo felt his heart squeeze. The last time he was in here was when he left Nora and the baby. Nora had tears in her eyes. He reached for her hand and kissed it. They both got out of the car and walked to the door.

Bo and Nora clung to each other, maybe he was wrong maybe they weren’t ready for this. He felt Nora nuzzle his face then kiss him. He smiled and looked at her.

“Open the door Bo.”

He opened the door, he and Nora walked back into their house. It was still home, it felt like home.  They walked around hand in hand. They went upstairs, Nora stopped at the nursery. Bo kissed her, she slowly opened the door. Both of them began to cry. It smelled like baby. Nora walked over to the dresser and put the lock of hair on it. He came behind her and held her. They stood there for several minutes. Nora turned in his arms and kissed him.

“Bo I want to see our bedroom.”

“Very sure.”

“Red, please what is it, what happened?”

Nora sat in front of him and took his hands.

“Bo, I am pregnant.”

Bo sat there in a stunned silence, this was the last thing he expected.

“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, just went to the doctor to confirm, I didn’t want to say anything until I was sure. Bo? Are you okay with this?”

Bo shook out of his stupor and smiled widely. Nora visibly relaxed and smiled. Bo grabbed her and pulled her tight to him.  Then he pulled back.

“We are going to have a baby! Nora that is great, oh man I can’t wait!”

He pulled her to him again and kissed her. She giggled and kissed him back.
“How far along?”
“About 8 weeks.”

Bo felt the excitement build.

“Wow! OMG I got to call everybody!”
“Bo, wait!” Bo looked at her.

“What?”
“Bo let’s wait to tell anybody.”

Bo heart fell.

“Why?”

Nora kissed him.

“I just want to wait till the first trimester is done, you know make sure we are out of the woods.” Bo nodded.

“Ok honey, I’ll wait, but I am so excited, everybody may just guess.”

She laughed.

“If they ask you should tell them you and I have been have amazing sex.”

Bo laughed hard.
“oh honey, I think everybody already knows that, we aren’t exactly private when it comes to that.” Nora crawled on his lap.

“Well if everybody else had a love life like ours they’d brag too”

Bo moaned as Nora stroked her hands down his body.

“Baby if everyone made love as well as we do the world would cease to exist because nobody leave the house.”

Nora shift so she straddled his body.

“True, there are so many days I wish we could stay in bed all” she removes his shirt “day” kissing down his chest “long.”

Bo felt happier too, he didn’t have the weight of Drew’s death on him this time. He still thought of the baby they lost, often, but he could tell that they were both healing.  

Bo was out and about in town, Nora was around 5 months pregnant and everyone in town knew about it. He was getting congratulations all the time, he was enjoying this so much. Bo walked down to angel square, he stopped dead.

“Son of bitch!”

He felt anger building. He walked towards the object of his anger.

“What in the hell do you think you are doing here Rappaport?”

Sam looked at him and gave him a smug smile.

“Bo, what are doing here? I thought you left town, never to return.”

“I am back, have been back for a while. What are doing here?”

Sam rolled his eyes.

“I decided to come back to see if Nora is willing to give me another chance.”

Bo laughed.

“Oh really?”
“Yeah.”

Bo laughed and walked away from Sam.

“Good luck with that Sam.”

“Hey buddy, she is the love of my life, you screwed up when you left! I am back to make sure she knows I am here for her.”

Bo just kept laughing, walking away. He was going to head right to Nora, no way he was going to miss her reaction to this news.

Bo walked into Nora’s office. She was standing in front of her library on the phone. She waved him in. He sat down and watched her. He sighed, her baby bump had really started to show in the past few weeks. Nora wasn’t thrilled, but he loved it. She found what she was looking for and gave the information to the person on the other end. She hung up.
“Hello handsome.”

She walked over to him, he stood and kissed her. His hands moved to her stomach.
“Hello beautiful, hello little one.”

Nora hugged him a bit more and headed over to her chair. She sat down. Bo sat down across from her.

“What do I owe the pleasure of my husband visiting me in the middle of a work day?”
“I ran into someone interesting.”
“Who.”

Bo was about to answer when someone knocked on the door. Nora smiled apologetically.

“Sorry, Come in.”

Sam walked in the door. Nora’s eyes widened, then she looked at Bo. He nodded letting her know that who he was about to tell her about.

“Sam, what, I, what are you doing here?”

Sam looked at Bo with an angry glare.

“Nora I am here to beg for to forgive me and take me back.”
“Sam, you left and you haven’t been back for over a year.”
“I know, but Nora I love you, please take me back.” Bo snickered. “You know Buchanan, maybe you should go.”
“Why?”
“Why are you here Buchanan? I thought you dumped Nora?”

Bo stood ready to go toe to toe with Sam.

“Stop!”

Both men turned towards her.

“Sam, I am flattered, really.” She then stood, showing off her baby bump. “But I have already moved on.” Bo tried to hide his smile. Sam's eyes were huge.

“Who?”

Nora walked across the room. She put her arm around Bo.

“Bo came back, we healed each other and we are expecting a baby in 4 months.”

She kissed Bo’s cheek. Bo smiled widely at Sam, he was enjoying this way too much. Sam sputtered.

“But Nora, he just left you, after he slept with Lindsay!”

Nora sighed.

“Sam please stop, you left me too, and as for the Lindsay thing, we have moved past it, just like he moved past me sleeping with you. Sam, I do not love you. I never have, I never will. Please stop trying to ‘Win me’, you never will. I love Bo with all that I am. We are having a baby. My life is perfect” She looks at Bo, she put her forehead on his. “our life is perfect.”

Bo kissed her and looked in her eyes. He go lost in them, he nearly forgot Sam was there.

Sam was red, Bo actually thought he might have a heart attack for a second.

“Fine! But mark my words. You’ll do something that will knock you off the pedestal he puts you on and he’ll leave you again.”
“No Sam I will not, I have stopped putting her on a pedestal. She my life and my heart, but I know she isn’t perfect. I will never expect perfection from her again.”

Nora hugged him tightly.

Sam growled and left the office.

“Oh Bo, thank you!”
“Just telling the truth honey.”
“I know, but it is still wonderful to hear.”

She kisses him. He laughs. She starts to roam her hand on his chest. Her hands reach for his tie. Bo reluctantly had to stop her.

“Honey I want you so bad, but I have a meeting with the mayor in an hour.”

She groaned.

“Fine, but I expect a rain check for later today.”

He kisses her.

“Deal.”

Bo left the office. He sighed. He was so happy, it wasn’t fair how happy he felt. He looked at his watch, he better get going or he’d be late.

Chapter 13

A month later Bo woke alone. He padded downstairs to find Nora. She was nowhere to be found. He tried to remember if she had a meeting this morning or maybe she going to go out with her friends. He called her office, then a few of their friends. Nobody had seen her. Bo try to keep his nerves calm, but wasn’t very successful. His 6 month pregnant wife was missing. He decided he need to dress and get the station, he’d already called and asked the officers just to be on the lookout for her.

Bo was so scared, it has been nearly 8 hours since he woke up without Nora and no sign of her.  He was in his office with Hank. They were thinking hard where they should look.

“Bo I don’t like this at all!”
“Hank we got to think where could she be?”
“Bo, I hate to bring this up? But didn’t you see Sam not long ago?”
“Hank that was over a month ago and Nora was very clear about her feelings.”

Hank nodded.

An officer came in with the mail. Bo flipped through it, not really looking. His hands stop.

“Bo, what is it?”

Bo’s lifted a piece of mail with shaky hand. Hank walked over to see what Bo was looking at. It had Nora’s hand writing. He looked at Hank who looked just as upset as he felt. He open it.

Bo,

I am sorry, but I can’t stay with you any longer.  I have been living a lie, thinking I could come back to you. The truth is I can still feel your resentment for sleeping with Sam. I still have anger towards you leaving me. I'm still healing from losing Sam’s baby, Julius. I am sorry, please don’t look for me.

Nora
He dropped to the couch. His mind not able to process what he just read. Hank stood next to him speaking, Bo couldn’t hear him. His world was falling apart he couldn’t understand anything. Hank shook him hard. Bo snapped back.

“No!”
“Bo.”
“No, there is no way my wife wrote that letter.”
“Bo, that is Nora’s handwriting.”
“Hank do you really think Nora would keep the baby away from me? Even if she left me, do think she would do that to me?”
Hank shook her head.

“No I don’t, but this is her writing.”

Bo looked at the letter. Then he noticed it.
“Hank, she said she is still healing from losing Julius.”
“Yeah, so?”
“Hank, she named the baby Beaufort Jr., she told me, it something that only her and I knew. Oh my God Hank, someone has her and they wanted me to think that she was leaving me.”

Bo ran out and issued an APB out on his wife. He didn’t know who had her, but he need to find her.

“Bo, slow down, we need to think about this, who would take Nora?”
“Sam!”
“Sam? Are you sure, I know he isn’t your favorite person, but do you really think he’d take Nora?”
Bo thought hard, honestly he hated Sam, but he couldn’t see him doing something like this. He knew Sam actually cared for Nora, he couldn’t see him holding her against her will.

“No I can’t, but I need to talk to him.”

Chapter 14

Bo called the Chicago police to help him find Sam. Within an hour they had a phone number and address. Bo called him immediately.

“Rapport.”
“Sam this is Bo Buchanan.”
“What you calling me for? To rub it in you have Nora? Well you know you can sho-”
Bo cuts him off.

“Sam, Nora is missing.”

“What! What happened.”
“I am not sure, I woke up alone this morning. I got a letter a few hours ago telling me she was leaving.”
“So she left you finally, how does this qualify as missing.”
“Sam she put the wrong name of the baby she lost in the letter, she was forced to write that letter.”
“She named the baby? I didn’t know that.”
“Sam, please, have you heard from Nora?”
“No, trust me I’d be a much happier man if she had.”
“Damn. Please Sam if you hear anything.”
“I will let you know.”
Bo hung up. He looked at Hank.

“No luck?”
Bo felt the pit of his stomach burn. He was so afraid, who had his wife and what were they doing to her.

Chapter 15

Two months goes by. Nothing is happening with Nora’s case. Bo and his best men have done all sorts of forensics. Viki has Nora’s face plastered all over the National news. Nothing, nothing was happening. Bo was a wreck. He spent day and night in the station. Hank forced him to eat. He wanted his wife back, he wanted their baby. He was so scared that he wouldn’t find her before she had the baby, she was getting so close to the due date. In the back of his head he was scared shitless that he’d never find her that he lost her forever. He couldn’t handle that thought. He pushed it far far away.

He sat in his desk reading the letter for the thousandth time. An officer came with the mail. He took it, he was expecting a forensic report from the FBI. He saw the envelope, it was the same one from before. He ripped it out of the stack. It was her, it was her writing. He opened it fast.

Bo,

I had the baby. A boy, I have given him up to a nice family. Please stop looking for me, I have nothing you want now.

Nora

Bo heart stopped. Did she really have the baby? Did this person force her to give up the baby? He picked up the phone.

“Hank come down here now, I got a letter from Nora.”

As he’s waiting for Hank he opens the forensics report from the FBI lab. Hank walks in.

“Let me see it.”

Bo hands Hank the letter.
“Do you really think she had the baby?”
“I don’t know Hank, it may be a ploy to get it us to back off, if they think I only care about the baby and not Nora. She still has 4 weeks till her due date.”

“Is that from the FBI?”

“Yes, just got it. I was just reading it.”
Hank walked behind him and they read the report.

“OMG HANK! Do you see this.”
“Yes, you better get an APB out on a Dr. McIver. Who the hell is Colin McIver?”

Bo shook his head, but he felt a bit of relief, he had a name.

Chapter 16

Bo sat in the station, his men were giving him all the information they could on Colin McIver. He was a doctor in Cherryvale, quite a ladies man. Bo looked at the picture, he was a young man, good looking. He hadn’t been seen for nearly a week. None of this was adding up. What would a young man like Colin McIver be doing taking his wife and making him think Nora left him. None this fit.

Bo decided to make a call, maybe there was something from her past that he nor Hank knew about.

“Rappaport.”
“Sam it is Bo.”
“Have you found her?”
“No, but we got our first real lead and I was hoping you could help.”
“I’ll help anyway I can.”
“We got a DNA report from FBI, it came back as a Colin McIver.”
“COLIN!”
Bo stopped, his heart leapt.
“Do you know him?”
“You could say that, Bo he is married to Lindsay’s sister.”
“Oh God..”
“Bo, do you think Lindsay?”
“Sam I have to go, thank you for the information.”
“Please let me know if you find her.”

“I will.”

Bo hung the phone up.

“HANK HANK!!”
Hank ran in.

“What is it Bo?”
“Lindsay!”
“What about her?”
“Colin is her brother-in-law.”
“Shit. We need to find where they are.”

The entire LPD started to look for any property that either Lindsay or Colin had been associated with.  Hank came running in.

“Bo I think I have it.”
“What is it?”
“It is a house that belongs to Lindsay’s sister, it isn’t in Colin’s name at all, but she moved out a long time ago. Bo, he could have held her there without anyone knowing.”

Bo was out of the door, Hank following behind.

Chapter 17

Bo drove as fast as he could to Cherryvale. He was so scared, he almost lost her last year, it nearly killed him. The idea of losing her totally, plus another baby..he would never survive.

He and several other police squad cars arrived at the house. It was dark. They knocked on the door. No answer. Bo looked at Hank, he wasn’t going to leave without checking the entire house. He kicked the doors in. He and the rest of the LPD flooded into the house.

They started to search. Bo ran upstairs. He opened the first door, it was an empty room. He walked in and started to search. He opened the bathroom door, he stopped. Nora was sitting on toilet with her arms bound and mouth gagged. She was crying. Then he noticed in the tub, Colin McIver, he was dead, shot. Then in corner of his eye, he saw her. Lindsay. She had a gun in pointed at Nora, her mascara running.

“Don’t you try anything Bo. Put your gun on the floor.” Bo slowly laid his gun down. “Get by your bitch.”

He walked towards Nora, he goes to reach for her.

“DON’T TOUCH HER!”

Bo hands went up.
“Lindsay what do you want?”
“Want? All I wanted was a man to love me for me. It isn’t fair. Sam loved Nora, you love Nora. She cheated on you! She gave birth to a baby that wasn’t yours, and you still love her. You knocked her up! Her life is so fucking perfect. I want that life.”
“So you kidnapped her? Or had Colin kidnap her?”
“I had Colin do it, I figured I take her and take your baby. Then I’d have her life! But NO! Colin like all the other men in the world fell for her. They always fall for her and leave me!”

Bo stood closer to Nora, ready to jump if Lindsay tried to shoot.

“And then you! Why couldn’t you just let her go, she wrote that letter. You should have hated her for keeping your child away from you, but instead you start a nationwide manhunt!”

Bo felt his anger build
“I would never let my baby or Nora go! Nora would never keep my baby from me, I didn’t believe those notes for one second.”

Lindsay laughed and aimed her gun at Nora.

“Well that is too bad Bo, because now you are going to lose both.”
Bo heard her cock the gun and saw her start to squeeze the trigger. He jumped, pushing Nora on the ground. He heard the gun go off.

Chapter 18

Bo heard a body hit the ground. He looked up and saw Lindsay dead on the ground with a bullet in her head. A couple of officers came.

“Suspect down, repeat suspect down.”

Bo slowly got up. He held Nora to him as he did. Once he was straight he remove the gag and tie. He and Nora clung to each other. He kissed her hair and breathed her scent in. He had his wife back. He started to move them out of the room. He got downstairs and outside.

“Oh thank God!”

Bo saw Hank running towards them. Hank hugged both Nora and Bo.
“I’ll drive you both, get in the car.”
Bo nodded thankful he didn’t have to let her go. Neither had said a word to each other. They got in the car. He stroked her hair and pulled her face up. Her face was stained with tears. He caressed that face, he loved that face. He kissed her on the lips. Her hands wove into his hair. It soon became passionate. Suddenly she pulled his hair.

“OW! Honey!”

Nora made a loud painful noise.

“Red? Honey? Did they hurt you?”

She let go of him, putting hand on her stomach. She looked at him.
“Bo I am in labor.”

Bo heard Hank curse and turn the siren on.

“But honey you still have four weeks left.”

Nora’s eyes filled with tears again.

“Colin induced labor, right before Lindsay shot him.”

Bo felt fear and anger. How could anybody be so heartless?

“Ok honey, Hank will get us to the hospital okay? You and the baby will be fine. I love you so much.”
Nora smiled. Her hand caressed his face.
“I love you too, and thank you for never giving up on me.”

Bo kissed her hand.
“I will never give you up, ever.”

By the time they got to Llanview hospital it became obvious that Nora’s labor was progressing very fast and she was in a great deal of pain.

“Bo she wasn’t like this with Rachel, this isn’t normal.”
Bo nodded, scared by what Hank had just told him. Bo carried Nora in, Larry had been inside waiting for them. They wheeled her to a room right away, Bo was sent to scrub up. Larry told him to hurry.

Bo ran into the delivery room. Nora was in a horrible state. This labor was progressing too fast. Larry seemed to be worried. Which scared Bo, Larry rarely shows worry. He ran to Nora. He smoothed her hair down and kissed her.
“I am here Red, I love you so much, I love our baby so much.”

Nora was in so much pain. She screamed and cried, begging him to make it stop. Bo would have given anything to take the pain away.

“Nora you need to start pushing.”

She was crying from the pain, but she pushed.

“Ok stop.”

Nora stopped, but the pain seemed to rip through her body. Bo held her as close as he could. Kissing her telling her he loved her.
“Ready on three Nora, one two three.”

Nora pushed holding on to Bo.

“Baby is crowning! Ok Nora stop. Next push will be the last.”

Nora pain seemed to increase, it was frightening how much pain she was in. Bo pressed his lips to her forehead as she gripped him.  Finally the baby came. Bo saw them take the baby.

“Bo, is the baby ok?”

He could tell she was still in pain. He looked over to see if could tell.

“The baby is fine Mr and Mrs Buchanan.”

He turned to Nora and nodded. Then he notice she was unconscious. The nurse grabbed him, started to pull him out of the room.

“What is going on, NORA!”

The nurse pulled him out.

“I am sorry Mr. Buchanan you need to stay out here.”
“What is going on, what is wrong with my wife?”
The nurse ran back in. Bo looked at the closed door, he had no clue was going on.

“Bo?”
Bo turned Hank and his father running towards him.

“Boy, what happened, why do you have blood all over you?”
He looked down, he realized his scrubs were drenched in Nora’s blood. He looked up and Hank and Asa. His brain began to shut down. Oh God Nora. His knees buckled.

Chapter 19

Asa and Hank ran up to him, both took an arm and stood him up. They moved him into a chair.
“Bo, what happened in there?”

“Nora had the baby, she was in so much pain, so much, it awful. Then she asked if the baby was okay, I looked over to the nurse, she told me the baby was fine, then” He closed his eyes “I turned to tell her, she was unconscious. The nurse then escorted me out. I don’t” He heaved his chest trying not to cry. “I don’t know what is going on.”

A nurse came out. Bo ran to her.

“What is going on.”
“Your wife has a hemorrhage, we have to perform emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. The doctor is prepping her right now.  It will be about an hour long.” The nurse looks down at him “You can use the bathroom over there to wash and get new scrubs. Your son is doing well, you can go see him while your wife is in surgery.”

Blinked back tears.

“Son? We have a son?”

The nurse gave him a small smile.

“Yes, 6lbs 1 oz., 20 inches.”

The nurse turned and walked back into Nora’s room. He felt his father’s and Hank’s hands on his shoulders. He remain silent, he was too overwhelmed.

“Bo, you should clean up.”

He nodded and headed towards the bathroom. He watched his wife’s blood wash down the drain as showered, it seemed so surreal. He changed into clean scrubs. He walked out of the bathroom. Asa and Hank still waiting for him. Asa walked up to Bo and put his hands on Bo shoulder.

“Son, I know you are scared, but Nora is a very strong woman, who has so much to live for, she’ll pull through.” Bo nodded trying to take strength in his father’s words. “You need to go down the hall and see your son.” Bo looked up, he was so afraid to see his baby without Nora. “Bo, Nora wouldn’t want you to wait. I’ll stay here in the waiting room, as soon they come out we’ll get you.”

Bo nodded. He headed down the hall to see his son for the first time. He was in shock as he made his way. He looked into the window to all the newborns. He looked, then he saw him. A tiny blue bundle. He walked over the nurse.

“Um, I want to see my son.”
“Your name sir.”
“Bo Buchanan.”
She looked at her list and smiled.

“Do you have your wrist strap?”

Bo was confused.

“Wrist strap? I wasn’t given one.”

“Oh, um I can’t let you in unless you have one.”
Bo felt tears coming, after everything that happened today, being kept away from his newborn son was the last straw. He started to cry.

“Please, my, my wife is in surgery, she had a hemorrhage, I just want to see my baby. Isn’t there someone you can call? Please.”

He tried to calm himself down. The nurse about in tears.

“I’ll call the administration, I’ll try to get you in.”

Bo nodded, his breathed through his nose trying to get the tears to stop.

The nurse called someone, she was on the phone for 5 minutes. Bo pressed his head against the window looking at his son, his need to hold his baby was growing by the second.

The nurse came over, she had a wristband. She put it on him.

“Here you go Mr. Buchanan, they didn’t get you one since your wife had an emergency birth.”

Bo looked up at her. She smiled.

“Go on in, he is waiting.”

Bo walked in the room. The other nurse looked at his wristband, she directed him to the rocking chair. She brought the baby to him. He gently took the baby. Bo held his son, his heart felt such pride and such pain at the same time. The baby was so perfect, Bo checked him out, 10 finger, ten toes. He opened his little eyes. Bo heart melted, he had Nora’s eyes. Bo felt the tears coming down his face, he didn’t care. He kissed his little forehead, the baby stretched out and made a little whimper. Bo cuddled him closer. He felt a hand on his shoulder, he looked up.

“Larry? How is Nora?”

Chapter 20

“Bo why don’t you put the baby back and we’ll talk in the hallway.”
Bo nodded, he felt his stomach knot. He kissed the baby one last time and handed him back to the nurse. He followed Larry out.

“Larry, please how is she?”

“Bo, she made it through surgery.”

Bo fell to the chair, he was so relieved.
“Bo, she isn’t out he woods.”

Bo heart squeezed.

“What do you mean.”
“Nora had a hemorrhage, we were able to stop the bleeding, but we have to keep close watch for the next week, it could start again.”
“So if she starts to bleed again?”
“We have to do another surgery. Bo we will be monitoring her very carefully.”
“Can I see her?”

“Yes, but she is on a lot of drugs, so she’ll be very groggy.”
Bo nodded, he looked towards the baby.

“Will she be able to see the baby?”
“We will probably wait till tomorrow, she is too groggy to hold him right now.” Larry patted him on the back. “Come on Bo, let’s go see you wife.”

Bo walked into her room. She looked so beautiful, even after such a horrible birth and surgery, he made her heart skip a beat. She was asleep, he ran his hand down her face, then leaned down and kissed her forehead. She stirred opening her eyes.

“Bo?”
“Yeah honey.”
“I, where am I?”

“You’re in the hospital honey? Do you remember how you got here?”
Nora looked confused for a minute, trying to remember.

“You saved me, save me from Lindsay.” He could tell she was struggling, he was about to stop her. “THE BABY, Bo, I had the baby, it hurt so much, I..is the baby okay?”

“Yes, the baby is fine, I’ve already held him.”
“Him? We had a boy?”
“mmhmm, he is beautiful and perfect. I checked, 10 toes and 10 fingers!”

Nora laughed, then cringed in pain.

“Oh Red, I am sorry.”

“It is okay, when I can see him?”
“Larry said tomorrow, you are going to be too out of it tonight to hold him.”
She nodded, she was obviously very tired. Bo caressed her face.

“Honey, why don’t you sleep, I’ll be right here.”
“You won’t leave?”
“Never.”
“k, I lov.”
Nora feel asleep.

“I love you too honey.”

Bo held onto her hands and watched her, soon he fell asleep too.

Chapter 21

Bo awoke to a hand running through his hair. He looked up and saw Nora’s beautiful face looking at him.
“Hey handsome.” Bo smiled, he took her hand and kissed it.

“Hey beautiful. How are feeling?”
“Awful, but so thankful, I am back to you and I have my baby. Bo? Can you go see if I can see the baby?”
He smiled.

“I think I can handle that.”

Bo stood and kissed her before he went to find a nurse.

He followed the nurse to Nora’s room as she wheeled the baby in the room. Bo watched the baby the entire time, he was so beautiful and tiny. When they got inside he saw Nora trying to sit up. He ran over there.

“Honey, please, let me help, you can’t be doing that stuff right now.”

She nodded. He helped her into a sitting position, she moaned in pain as he got into the correct place.

“You okay?”
“I will be” She took a few breaths gripping his forearms until the pain subsided.”I want my baby.”
Bo walked over the baby and picked him up. He then gently placed him in Nora’s arms. Nora smiled and started to cry.

“Wow, Bo his so perfect.” Bo nodded. Nora lifted him and smelled the baby, then kissed him.

“Hey sweetie, I am you mommy and the handsome man next to me is you daddy, we love you so much.” Nora nuzzled the baby. The baby stretched then made a few cries. “I am guessing you are a hungry little man.” He saw Nora put the baby in position and start to lower her gown. Suddenly she stopped. “Bo can you get the nurse?”
Bo felt himself panic.

“Why what is wrong?”
“Oh Bo nothing, I just didn’t know if I could breast feed him, since I have so many pain meds in my system. I just want to make sure.”

Bo felt himself relax.

“Yeah, I’ll get her right now.”

He walked out the room and found her nurse, he told the nurse Nora’s concern.

“I’ll go talk to her right now.”

“Thank you!”

Bo followed her in. Nora was on the bed cuddling the baby.

“Hi Nora, your husband just told me you concern.  You are right to be concerned. With what the doctor has you on, I would not recommend breastfeeding until a week after you done with the pain medications. If you want to feed him, I will get a bottle for you.”

“Yes please.”  

The nurse left and came back with a bottle. Nora began to feed him. Bo sat on the bed next them just watching, his heart was so full of happiness it might just explode.  Nora looked up at him and smiled.

“You know we need to figure out a name for this little one, we can’t just keep calling him the baby.”

Bo laughed.

“I guess you are right.”  Then they both got silent. They never got a chance to really discuss what they wanted, they both had list, but she was kidnapped before the got to narrow it down.

“Red? Do you want to talk about it?”
She shook her head.

“Not right now, right now I want to focus on our baby and give this perfect little man a name.”

“Well, do you have any you really like?”

Nora nodded.

“I thought maybe Bryce or Thomas, but neither seem to fit him. Do you have a name Bo?”
Bo looked down at his son.

“How about Aidan?”

Nora smiled.

“Aidan? Hmm, yeah. I think he looks like an Aidan. Hi Aidan Asa Buchanan.”

BO smiled

“Oh Pa will love this.”

“That is the point, maybe it will keep him happy for awhile.”

Bo kissed her than the Aidan.

Chapter 22

Nora was in the hospital for the next week. Bo didn’t leave her side. She did have to have a second surgery, they had to do a few repairs on her uterus.  Larry said she’d be in real pain for at least another month, that she need to stay in bed as much as possible. Breastfeeding wasn’t an option anymore. Bo couldn’t get her talk about her kidnapping at all, but he didn’t push either. He wanted to make sure she was strong before he did.

Bo had a nurse come in to help Nora, she was in so much pain still, and he didn’t want her to worry about the little things. Bo was enjoying being a father. He was amazed how much energy such a tiny thing took. Since Nora wasn’t allowed to move around much Bo was on diaper duty, he didn’t enjoy that one bit. His son gave him too many surprises.

Bo was holding Aidan watching him sleep. He walked over to Nora she held out her hands. He gave her Aiden. She cuddled him close kissing his little head.

“Bo, I am ready.”
Bo looked at her confusion written all over his face.
“I am ready to talk about the kidnapping.”

Chapter 22

Bo felt his breath catch.
“Are you sure Red? We can wait.”

Nora looked at him then the baby.
“No, I need to get this done with.”

“Okay, here let me put Aiden back in his crib.”

Bo put the baby back in his crib. He turned to Nora, she look so serious and sad. He walked to the bed and took her hands.

“Bo, he took me, he took me from the house. You were asleep, the baby was moving and I couldn’t sleep.” Nora eyes began to tear up and her nose turned red. “He was in the living room, I didn’t see him. He grabbed me, he had something that he drugged me with. I woke up in a strange bedroom. He had me locked in the room. I tried so hard to get out.”

Nora stopped trying to gain her composure. Bo ran his hand through her hair trying to soothe her.

“He made me write the first note to you, oh Bo it was awful. I put the wrong name, I knew you would know I was taken.” She started to cry.

“He won’t explain what he wanted from me. I was so scared, I was afraid for the baby. Colin confused me, he took care of me, and made sure I got everything I need to myself and the baby to stay healthy. I started to realize he had a partner I just didn’t know who.” Nora looked down at her hands, she was very nervous.

“Bo, I realized Colin was in love with me, I..I used that.”

Bo sat up a little straighter.

“What do mean used that?”

Nora began to speak very fast and panicky.

“Bo, I let him think I loved him too. I let him touch and kiss me, but I never slept with him I swear! I just wanted to let him get his guard down so I could escape.”

Bo pulled her to him, kissing her.
“Oh honey, it is okay, you did what you had too, I am so sorry you had to do that. I am so sorry.”

Nora started to sob.

“I am so sorry, Bo it was so awful.”
“It’s okay honey, I understand.”

Nora started to calm down. She took a deep breath and continued.

“I thought I was getting his trust, then he came in told me to write another note, telling you I had the baby. I didn’t know what was happening. A few day later he came in the room, with several vials of drugs. Bo, I was so scared, I didn’t know what he was planning. I tried to run. But he got me and tied me down. Then Lindsay showed up. I suddenly understood everything. Lindsay stood by as he shot me full of drugs. I begged him to stop, I had no idea what they were doing.  Then I felt the contractions. Lindsay laughed. She told me that she was taking the baby, she was going to raise that baby as hers.” She began to cry. “Colin became upset, apparently Lindsay had told her that he and I could live together and raise the baby. They began to argue, they somehow ended up in the bathroom. I heard a gunshot. Lindsay came with a huge smile. Then we heard you break down the door and you know the rest.”

Bo held her as she cried. He rocked her. He kissed her head.

“I love you Red. I was so scared when you were gone, so scared. You are my life, I can’t live without.”

Aiden made a loud cry, forcing them to separate. Bo walked to the crib and picked up the crying infant. Aiden calmed down immediately. He smiled at Nora.

“Guess the little guy just wanted to be held.”

Nora smile.

“Bo, I am so happy that I have you and Aiden.”

Bo walked over. He gently sat down beside her.
“I am happy to Red, I am so happy we have our baby, I am happy I have you back, I never want to lose you again.”

Nora reached out to him and pulled him to her for a kiss. Her hand traveled down to Aiden, she stroked his hair. Bo heard her sigh then put her head on his shoulder. Soon the Nora and Aiden were asleep. Bo felt so lucky to have this life, it was hard to believe that he almost lost it all.
