Heart’s Want
Bo Buchanan walked into his station. He had been the commissioner of Llanview for nearly 3 years. In those three years he had done lots of good, but he also lost a wife and ran through several girlfriends. Problem for Bo was the woman he really wanted was completely off limits. Nora Buchanan. Beautiful and smart, but married to his older brother.
There were days he would daydream of what would had happened if he had met her first instead of Clint. He’d imagine they'd dance and eat junk food, while their beautiful children ran around in the yard. But, that didn’t happen, his brother met her first.
Bo can still remember the first time he saw her. It was a party for his nephew Kevin, Bo had been hearing about the two Gannon women who stolen two Buchanan’s men’s hearts. He laughed with his brother, teasing him, then she walked in. Her red shining, her brilliant smile, and her legs..what he wouldn’t give to run his hands up and down them. She walked towards him, Bo nearly fell over himself, he wanted to meet this woman. Then his brother moved forward, calling her name then kissing and embracing her. Bo felt the disappointment, but she was his brother’s, so he shrugged it off. As time went Bo’s feelings grew, before he knew it, he was in love with Nora. Within a year she and Clint were married.
Bo dealt with this in the only way he knew. He went from woman to woman. When he became police commissioner he decided to settle with a bitch named Lindsay. To say their marriage was a disaster is an understatement. They had meet and married all within a month. Nora, Clint, and Asa all pleaded for him to slow down. He ignored them, in the back of his mind if he married he’d get over Nora. It didn’t, as time went on Lindsay hate for Nora became obvious. He filed for divorce 6 months later. When Lindsay moved out she caught him by surprise.

The next two days at work flew. Bo was in extremely good mood knowing he'd get to spend the evening with Nora. He started closing up shop, he walked out of the floor. He was heard with a man screaming.

Bo grabbed her hands. Nora looked over at him, crying. He felt his heart squeeze he loved her so much.

Nora began to sob, he pulled her over to him and held her.

Bo nodded. He watched her get out and walk to her door. He sat in his car for another 10 minutes before he headed back to his apartment. When he got there he collapsed in the couch. What did this mean? If Clint and Nora broke up, did he have a chance with Nora? Should be even try to go after her, would his brother hate him? Then he shook his head, no point in thinking about this, when he didn’t even know if Nora and Clint would break up.
Bo woke up to knocking. What in hell? Bo answered to door. Clint was on the other side.

Clint left, Bo closed the door. He tried to process what had happened. For now he’d stay away from Nora, he didn’t think he could trust himself to keep her at arm’s length anymore.
The next month Clint and Nora’s marriage had been over. Bo had overall been very good at staying away. Nora would stop in the station and they’d eat lunch. Nora seemed to understand his need to stay away while the divorce was going on. Luckily both Nora and Clint kept level heads, both had plenty of money and there had been no kids, it made everything go smooth.
Bo was in his apartment listening to oldies when he heard a knock. He found Nora wearing a tank top and shorts holding a bag of food.
“Hey Bo, want to go out to the beach and have junk food fest!”

Bo and Nora arrived at the private beach Asa owned. Not a soul in sight. Nora laid her towel and removed her tank and shorts revealing a bikini. Bo tried to keep eyes off of her, but couldn’t. He’d never seen something so sexy. Maybe this hadn’t been the best idea. They spent the afternoon eating, dancing and swimming. It was one of the best days he’d ever had. The sun began to go down, Bo laid on the towel. Nora got out the water and walked over to him. She laid next to him watching the sun. It soon became cool, Nora turned to her side and wrapped her arm around Bo’s waist cuddling to him for warmth. Bo heart speed up, he put on arm on hers and the other around her waist pulling her closer. Nora sighed. Bo turned his head and kissed her hair.

She leaned down and kissed him. Bo instantly responded. His hands went to her hair. Nora adjusted her body down on to his. They lay on the beach passionately kissing for a good 10 minutes. Nora pulled away.
“Bo, I think I need to stop and think about this, you are my best friend and the brother of my ex-husband. To say this is complicated is an understatement.”

The next few weeks had been interesting. Nora was killing him. She let him kiss her, but always stopped and wouldn’t let them define what they were doing. Bo knew it was a good thing not to rush this, but had loved her for so long, he just wants to hold her and love her.
Bo was on the phone when an officer came running in without knocking. The officer looks very worried. Bo hung up the phone.

Bo ran out fast. He had to find her fast! Bo called everybody he could think of and nobody had seen her. Bo stopped at his apartment first, he need to find some addresses that he kept in a book at home. He opened the door, stuff was torn apart. Bo pulled his gun and began to move into the apartment. He heard noise coming from the bedroom. He slowly made his way to room. As he got closer he realized it was bed springs he was hearing. Did someone come rob him and decide to have sex? He opened the door slowly and put his gun in the room as he walked in. What he saw nearly made him throw up. Wright was on top of Nora ,in his bed, raping her.

He felt Nora’s body shake. The back up finally showed up. Bo escorted Nora to the hospital. He hadn’t been allowed to go with her in the room. He sat in the waiting room with his head in his hands. He was so angry and worried. Angry at the court system for not only allowing that monster to put away years ago, then forcing Nora to be his attorney, he was angry at the prison for allowing him escape, he was angry at himself for not being there and letting this happen to Nora. Then he was worried, worried that Nora would never recover from this, worried this will prevent Nora from ever loving him. Bo lifted his head when heard the door open. It was Clint and his father. They walked over a sat on either side of him.

She was very worried about you, asking if you had been hurt.” Bo put his head in his hands again. “Commissioner, I think he told her he’d kill you if she didn’t do what he told her.” Bo felt the tears coming. “Right now she is sedated, her body has a long time for healing, but she’ll need counseling.”

Bo sat next to Nora. He held her hand as he looked at her. She looked so beautiful. His mind kept flashing to the awful images of what happened in his apartment. He brushed her hair off her face. Nora eyes opened, she looked confused.

Bo lifted her hand to his lips. He saw it her eyes when she remember, it broke him. She began to cry. Bo stood and sat next to her in the bed, he slowly put his arms around her. He didn’t want to scare her. He held her for a good half hour until she fell asleep. Bo soon felt his eyes get heavy and fell asleep with her in his arms.
Bo dreams haunted him. He dreamt about what he found his apartment. Nora underneath that monster. Her face filled with fear and tears. Bo ran to them to help her and couldn’t get Wright off of her. Wright turned to Bo while raping Nora, “Your bitch is a 10”. Bo felt anger and fear. He jerked awake.

“Sorry to bother you commissioner.”

Bo sighed, he had no desire to see that monster. He looked at Nora and kissed her hair again. Gently he put her back to bed trying not to wake her.
“Fine, but I will only stay if he gives facts, if he goes off I am out of there.”
Bo kept his eyes on Nora until she was out of sight.

Nora was a main staple here at the station, between her relationship with Bo and being a defense attorney everyone knew her. This attack on her hit home. The officers started to notice him, each looking at him with pain and pity. He walked towards the back where he knew Wright would be. John was already there on the outside.

Bo fell to his knees and cried. He lost her, his soulmate, his heart hurt more than he thought possible. He stayed in the apartment for hours like that, trying to find some sanity to it all. Bo hung up and headed towards his daughter room. Emma had grown a great deal, she was 7 months old. Bo was loving every moment of fatherhood.
“What’s up princess, you ready to get out of there? Mama will be home soon, we’ve got a big appointment with the wedding planner. I know I know, you are too excited, but please keep you baby words to yourself.”
Emma grunted and grabbed for Bo. He picked her up and changed her. Nora came home. Bo kissed her and handed her Emma. They left the house heading towards the planners.

“Well we have many options when it comes to food, vegan is becoming quite popular.” Bo choked a laugh back as Nora made a disgusted look on her face.
“No, I think we want meat, and lots of it. In fact I don’t think we want anything healthy.”

The wedding planner seemed utterly confused by them, Nora befuddled her with everything. Bo took Emma from Nora while she leafed through the catalog.
“Here! Deserts, that is what we care about!”
“Ok, Ms. Hanen. we can do that if you are sure?”
“Yes I am.”
“Yes I am.”
The wedding was in less than two months and they had everything almost ready, this was really the last thing that needed to be done. Bo bounced Emma on his knee while waiting for them to be done. It was nearly time for her to eat and she was getting fussy, Bo was trying to distract her. Emma wasn't having it, she let out a large wail, Nora turned.
“That is what I want, we have to go our daughter is demanding lunch.”
Bo picked up Emma and they left.
They went to a local restaurant Emma ate off Bo and Nora’s plates happy as a clam to get her tummy filled. They talked a bit about the wedding.
“Well look at this? Is this just a picture of perfection?”

Bo and Nora both tensed. Bo turned praying it wasn’t who he thought it was.
“Lindsay, what are doing here?”
“Well hello to you too, long time no see? I am here with my husband, we had a meeting in this area, I think the better question is what are you both doing here and whose baby is this.”
Bo shot Nora look who seemed liked she was ready to rip Lindsay’s head off. Bo cleared his throat.
“We uh live in Chicago, we had a meeting also in the area, this is our daughter.”
“Your daughter? Well well well, interesting. Jeeze Bo I thought I was crazy when I called you out for loving Nora, huh. Well she is a beautiful little girl.”

In the mean time a man came walking up behind Lindsay, Bo could only assume it was her husband.
“Come on Lindsay we got to go or we’ll...Nora?”
Bo whipped his head around to Nora who looked like she had seen a ghost.
“Sam..hi.”
“Wow Nora Gannon, look at you, you look exactly the same.”

Lindsay pipped up.
“Wait you know Nora?”
“Yeah we worked together a long time ago, tried to get her to date me but she wouldn’t ever accept.”

Nora tore her food in small bits giving them to Emma as he spoke. Nora finally spoke
“Yeah, that was a very long time ago. Um Sam this is my fiance Bo and our daughter Emma.” Sam shook Bo’s hand.
“We need to go, nice seeing you both.”
Emma squealed all the sudden. Bo realized they accidently given her a hot pepper, she wasn’t a happy baby. Nora took it from her and made Emma drink milk to calm her down.
Sam and Lindsay left as Emma calmed down. Bo looked at Nora who was jumpy.
“Red?”
“I don’t want to talk about here Bo, when we get home.”
When they get home Nora is quiet, Bo puts Emma in her play area.
“Are you going tell me what happened in the restaurant.”
“Bo I had an affair with Sam. It was a long time ago. He wanted more, I couldn’t give it him. It was a very messy by the time it ended. I haven’t even thought about him in years.”
“Ok, so what got you so tense.”
“Bo he used me to in his divorce to the wife before Lindsay.”
“What do you mean used?”
“I mean when we had the affair he was in a separation. I ended it soon after it began. He put my name in his divorce proceedings as his mistress. Then he had the nerve to ask me to marry him after his divorce finalized.”
“Bo I had an affair with Sam. It was a long time ago. He wanted more, I couldn’t give it him. It was a very messy by the time it ended. I haven’t even thought about him in years.”
“Ok, so what got you so tense.”

“Yes and no, I am more upset that he reminds me of a really bad time in my life.”

Bo nodded he could understand that.
“I just hope we never have to worry about running in to them again.”
Nora sighed and nodded. She looked at him and laughed.
“Oh Bo, can you believe we are this close to have a dream wedding and we run into two exes who married each other.”
Bo laughed, he hadn’t thought of that way. He hugged Nora and kissed her.
“I love you so much Red.” Nora snuggled into him and sighed
“I love you too, even though you were once married to Lindsay.”
He laughed and held her close.
The next two months flew. Emma was crawling, which means Bo and Nora had to watch her like a hawk. She loved to get into everything. Bo found her one day in her room, she had somehow managed to knock the baby powder from the changing table and cover herself and most of the room in powder. It took Bo and Nora nearly a week to get the nursery cleaned.
Bo was feeling the knots in his stomach tomorrow he’d be married to the women of his dreams. She was staying at her parents, everyone insisted that they stay apart. This broke both of their hearts, Bo more so because Nora took Emma with her. The house was quiet too quiet. He couldn’t sleep, the bedroom smelled of Nora. He moved around the house the nursery so empty without his little girl. He went to the living room and watch tv, he finally fell asleep.
He woke to the phone ringing. He picked it up.
“Hey handsome.”
Bo sighed
“Hey beautiful, missed you and Emma so much last night.”
“We missed you too, I can’t believe we’ll be married in less than 8 hours.”
“I can’t wait, I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”

He hears Emma squealing in the back ground.
“I think that Emma’s I love you.”
Bo heart ached.
“I miss you both, I’ll see you soon.”
“Bye baby”

Bo hung up. There was a knock, he answered. It was Asa, Clint, Joey, and Kevin came piling in.
“Boy it is time to get you married.”
“Boy it is time to get you married.”
The Buchanan men all got around and got the church in plenty of time. Bo nervously waited at the altar for the wedding to start. He could hear Emma in the foyer talking in her special baby language, he knew Nora was near. The music finally started and Bo watched the procession. Nora started come down the aisle, Asa one side and Len on the other. Asa held Emma as they walked. Bo heart nearly burst, she looks so beautiful in her wedding gown. They got to him. Bo shook Lens hand hugged Asa and kissed Emma, then he took Nora’s hand. They smiled at each other as they walked to the altar together. Bo recited his vows never leaving Nora’s face. They exchanged rings and when they were allowed to kiss Bo held her and kissed for a good minute before the Buchanan men started to make suggestive noises. They pulled apart laughing. Bo took her arm and walked towards Asa taking Emma, they walked out of the church and began the rest of their lives together. Bo’s heart finally getting all it wants.
