Chapter 9

The next month was painful for both Bo and Nora. They started counseling, both had lots of anger and resent. Nora didn’t realize how bad it was between them until they started to talk. She feared for her marriage. She knew he loved her, but he was so angry with her, she also started to worry he was resenting her for being pregnant, forcing him to stay with her. She hadn’t voice that yet, she wasn’t ready to hear his answer. Her morning sickness was horrendous, but Bo sat next to her in the bathroom every morning rubbing her back and putting a wash cloth on her neck.

This morning Nora sat at the toilet, it was so bad she was crying. Bo soothed her.
“I love you Red, I love our baby.”

She cried harder.

“Hey, honey don’t. Shhhh. You need calm down okay? This isn’t good for you or the baby.”

She sniffed and calmed down. She decided to voice her concern.
“Bo, I am scared.”
“You’ll be fine honey, the baby will fine.”
Nora shook her head.
“Not for the baby Bo, for us. Bo are you resentful of for me having of this baby?”
Bo jerked up.
“Where did that come from Red? Of course not. I love this child.”
“Bo you have such anger, it scares me.”
“Nora I swear the anger I have is not towards you having this baby. But I do have some towards you for other things, I am dealing with that anger, but most of my anger I have is towards myself.”
She looked up at him confused.

“Yourself? Bo you didn’t do anything, Georgie was to blame for that.”
Bo nodded.

“Yes she was, but I let her do it. I should have told you right away. None of this would have happened if I had just told you. But I thought I was protecting you. I was so stupid.”
Nora leaned on him, putting her head on his chest so she could hear his heart. He wrapped his arms around her.

“I love you so much Red. I’d be lost without you.”

They sat there on the bathroom floor embracing each other. For the first time since this started Nora felt a bit a peace in herself. Maybe they would make it.
