Chapter 22

“Brother? Like Drew?”
“Yeah.”
Matthew was stunned. He looked at Nora then at his dad. Then he laughed.

“I asked mom for a brother. But I wanted a small one, not a big one.”
Bo laughed and hugged his son.

“David would really like to get to know you. Would that be okay with you?”
Matthew shrugged.

“I guess.”
“Good, I invited him to dinner tomorrow. You, me, David, and your mom.”
“Okay, what do I say to him?”
Nora smiled, she could tell Bo was thinking the same thing.

“Sweetie, just talk about school, maybe sports. There has to be something you two have in common.”
Matthew giggled.

“Besides our dad.”
Bo barked out a laugh.

“Yeah. Now why don’t you go play. I need to talk to your mom alone for a bit.”
Matthew quickly went to leave, but stopped at the door.

“I still want that little brother or dog. Mom and you may have had a dog before, but I haven’t.”
With that he left.

“How did he find out about the dog?”
“I told him when he asked for a little brother.”
Bo shook his head.

“That kid, he is so great.”
Nora walked over and sat next to him on the bed.

“Yes he is. So you going to tell me what happened?”
Bo sighed and reached inside his jacket and pulled out a flash drive. Nora looked at him confused.

“It’s the video.”
“The video? THE VIDEO! Like of us? How? Why?”
“David. He stole it from Dorian and Clint and gave it to us.” Bo gave a small laugh. “To and I quote. ‘Do whatever we want to do with this cinematic  gem’ then he winked at me.”
Nora rolled her eyes, then she took the drive.

“He just gave it us? For free?” Bo nodded. “That is very unDavid like.”
Bo took a deep breath.

“He said he wanted me to see he could be the son I would be proud of.”
Nora smiled at Bo.

“Oh Bo, that is so wonderful. You think you two have a chance?”
Bo didn’t speak for a moment.

“Yeah I do, he seemed genuine and this video, I think we might be able to start a relationship. He is awfully excited about being a brother.” He nudged her. “And to have a mother.”
Nora mouth gaped open.

“I am only 8 years older than him!”
Bo laughed and put his arms around her.

“He doesn’t care, honey David didn’t really have a father or mother, he just wants something that resembles that, makes him proud.”
Nora put her head on his shoulder.

“Fine, I’ll try my best, but he better not call me mom.”
She felt Bo shake as he laughed.

“What?”
“He calls you step Nora.”

“What? Well, better than mom.”

Bo kissed the top of her head.

“I love you Red. I am so excited for us to start this new phase in our lives.” He took the flash drive from her. “The question is, do we watch this before we destroy it?”

Nora hit him jokingly.
“BO!”
Bo eyebrows raised.

“Come on Red, you not a little interested?”
Nora looked at the drive, she smiled at him.

“Fine, we will watch it, but after we know our son is asleep in his bed.”
Bo smile grew then he kissed her putting the flash drive in his hidden pocket in his jacket.

“I don’t know about you, but I am starving, this was a very long day.”
“I am sure Nigel made a huge dinner, he is so happy to be back, probably more than anyone.”

Bo stood and held out his hand to her she took it as he helped her up. She put her hand in the crook of his arm.

“You know Red, I think we are beyond new baby stage in our life, but I think a dog might be a good idea.”
“Don’t push your luck Commissioner.”
