Lightning Chapter 1

Chapter 1
He sat in his office leaning back on his chair with his feet on his desk. He was deep in thought. He heard laughter coming from his officers. He moved his head up and to see what they were laughing at. He saw a redheaded woman in the middle of his officers. Must be the new hot shot lawyer in town. He’d heard about her from others, she was suppose to brilliant. With the way his officers were hanging on her every word, he had no doubt she was attractive. His men usually had short attention spans unless there was a beautiful woman around. He sat up quickly when he saw her head moving towards his office. Seconds later there was a knock on the door.
“Come in.”
The door opened. He saw the legs first, his eyes slowly took her in, he was right. She was stunning.
“Commissioner Buchanan?”
“Uh, yes. I am Bo Buchanan, can I help you?”
“I hope so.”
She reached out. Bo took her hand.
“Nora Hanen, I am a lawyer and I am helping the Hill Law Firm with a couple cases.”
“Yes, what can I do for you?”
“Well I heard you were directly involved with Parcel case.”
He was taken aback.
“Parcel? That happened years ago. I was involved but as civilian. I wasn’t even part of the force then.”
“Yes, that is what I was told. I was contacted by the daughter of Parcel and she really wants to get to the truth of what happened to her father.”
Bo nodded.
“Well I’ll try to help, but I don’t know what I can do.  It happened so long ago, I always thought her father got the raw end of that deal, but I wasn’t the commissioner then.”
“No, it was Mike Gordy.”
Bo nodded, he and Gordy never go along, especially during that case.
“So what I want to do is to go over the case and all the evidence and I was hoping you’d give access to it, plus let me ask you anything I have questions about, including your involvement.”
“Sure I have no issues with that.”
Nora smiled at him. He couldn’t help but smile back, this woman was enchanting.
“Thank you. So I think I’d like to start by looking at the evidence.”
“Oh, it be in the basement.”
“Great can you get an officer to help me find my way?”
“I’ll take you down.”
“Oh I wouldn’t want to bother you with that, you have enough to do.”
“Don’t worry, I have a case file I need to get from there anyways.”
She smiled again.
“Great, show me the way.”
