Chapter 23
Bo tapped a pencil on his desk. His mind trying figure what to make of this case, but he couldn’t keep mind focused. His mind was on his favorite red head and the child she was carrying. It had been two weeks since she told him and their lives forever changed. She was different, they were different. It wasn’t bad, it was different. He now constantly thought of marriage. He had thought of marrying Nora from the moment he met her, but it was down the road after they had all the serious discussions. Now it was a constant thought, the timeline moved from maybe one year to anytime.
He sighed and put his pencil down. His door suddenly opened without a knock, Bo didn’t even have to look to know who it was, only one person who had the nerve to do such a thing.
“Hello Pa.”
“Boy.”
Bo looked up at his father.
“Boy.”
Bo looked up at his father.
“What can I do for you?”
“I wanted you to get that filly of yours to help me with a law problem I am having.”
Bo shook his head.
“I wanted you to get that filly of yours to help me with a law problem I am having.”
Bo shook his head.
“Pa why don’t you ask her yourself and don’t you have a team of lawyers?”
“This is more personal, I need her. She’ll say no if I ask her myself. For some reason that girl doesn't like me.”
“Calling her a filly doesn’t help.”
“Will you ask her or not?”
“I’ll ask, but if she says no, you better accept that no.”
Asa put his hands in the air.

Asa put his hands in the air.
“I will not bother your little girl if she says no..” Asa looked at him hard. “What is wrong with you?”
“Nothing is wrong Pa.”
“Bull. Something wrong with your pretty redhead.”
“Nothing is wrong Pa.”
“Bull. Something wrong with your pretty redhead.”
Bo sighed.
“No, well not exactly.” He felt his father’s gaze. “Pa I need to ask you something.”
“What is it?”
“Pa, did you feel ready to be father when you and Ma had Clint.”
“What is it?”
“Pa, did you feel ready to be father when you and Ma had Clint.”
Asa seemed taken back by that question.
“What in sam hell kind of question is that? Your Mama wanted a baby so we had one.”
Bo nodded.
Bo nodded.
“So, Ma was ready?”
“More than me. Where is this coming from boy?” Asa stood quickly. “You knock up Nora?”
Bo looked at his father he couldn’t keep it in anymore.

Bo looked at his father he couldn’t keep it in anymore.
“Yes, Nora is pregnant. I’ve known for two weeks and I just can’t wrap my mind around it. Pa when she told me I was stunned. It is so soon, I know I love her, but a baby already? Plus there is marriage, do I ask her? If I do is it because I love her or because of the baby? I just am lost here Pa.”
Asa moved over to Bo and patted him on the back.
“Hot Dog, a new Buchanan baby. Boy you’ll figure it out, Nora will be a great mama to my grandchild. You better hope the kid has her looks and brains.”
Bo laughed.
Bo laughed.
“One can only hope.”
Asa smiled.
Asa smiled.
“You may not be ready yet, but trust me son. When you hold that baby for the first time, you’ll forget all those doubt.”
Then Asa started to leave, but he stopped before he completely walked out.

“And marry the girl, you love her. I have no doubt, you’d marry her baby or no baby. You're just asking a little earlier than you would have. She may be a pain, but she’d be a great wife for you.”
With that Asa left.
Bo smiled, his father was right. He quickly stood up, he need to get to the jewelry store.
