Chapter 26

Bo ran into the hospital. He found a nurse fast.

“Hi, my fiance should be here, Nora Hanen. She is in labor.”
The nurse looked in the computer then smiled up at him.

“She’s in room 325”
He was running towards the elevator. As he got in the elevator it hit him, the baby was coming, he’d officially be a dad in a few hours. He leaned against the wall trying absorb the weight of that realization. The doors opened, he took a deep breath and made his way towards the room. He looked inside the window and saw her. His heart fluttered, she looked beautiful. He opened the door, she turned and saw him and smiled.

“Hey handsome, you made it.”
He walked over and kissed her.

“Wouldn’t have missed it. How’s it going?”
“Doctor says I am progressing well, baby should be showing up in a few hours.”
Bo sat down on her bed and caressed her face.
“You feeling okay.”
“I guess so, well as good as you can when you body is trying to push a small human out of it.”
Bo laughed.

She took his hand.

“You ready for this?”
Bo smiled, she knew he was nervous and scared.

“Yeah, as long as I have you I will be ready for anything.”
Nora suddenly gripped his hand so tight he felt she’d break it. She started to breath deep breaths. Bo said nothing as the contraction went through her body. As she finished Bo stroked her hair, she sat back.

“Wow, that was the strongest yet.”
Bo leaned over and kissed her.

“You are an amazing woman Red.”
Nora weakly laughed.

“Bo, women have been doing this since the dawn of time.”
“I know, but this is our baby and you are still amazing.”
She smiled at him. The door opened again. The doctor came in.

“How you doing Nora?”
“About 8 minutes apart.”
“Good, that means we are getting close. How you doing Bo?”
Bo eyes never wavered off of Nora.

“Great. She really okay?”
“Yes, Nora is a model of what you want to see when giving birth.”
Bo felt a bit calmer hearing that.

“Next time I see you that baby should be ready to make it way into the world.”
The doctor left. Nora met his eyes and gave him a wistful smile.

“Hard to believe we only met 11 months ago. Now look at us engaged and ready to bring a baby into the world.”

Bo kissed her hands.

“I personally couldn’t be happier about it. I love you Red.” He reached down and touched her belly. “And I love this small one.”
Nora put her hand over his.

“I love you both so much.” She laughed hard. “Guess I should be thanking Mike Gordy.”
Bo looked at her confused.

“What? Why?”
She ran a hand down his face.

“Because if it weren’t for his corruption I would never met you and we would have never made this baby.”
Bo laughed.

“Maybe we should send him a thank you card!”
Nora giggled.

“I’d pay to see the look on his face. OH!”
Nora gripped his hand again as another contraction hit. She sat back down.

“God this baby needs to come.”
Bo stroked her hand.

“Soon honey, very soon.”
